Copyright isn't intended as a legacy for your kids - nothing after about 1930 has gone out of copyright - it's intended to enrich the public domain. Since nothing's going into the public domain, then it's fairly clear that we've twisted copyright from its original purpose.
But while people are all for enforcement of other laws, somehow making you slow down or not race read lights is a "perversion of justice."
Well, duh - they're manipulating traffic lights in order to piss off drivers and get them to run reds so they can write more tickets. How is that not a perversion?
Find another excuse to justify breaking the law please.
Excuse? laws have no intrinsic justification, they need to be there for a worthy purpose. If you claim that you're enforcing speeding laws to reduce traffic accidents and it turns out that you don't improve safety, then the law itself is pointless. Doesn't mean it's illegal, but breaking it isn't morally wrong.
what if you miss? Not only is it dangerous to the locals (.30-06 will go right through a speed camera), but it's probably a felony. Better to use a jumped up paintball gun.
no they aren't. HOAs are unregulated for the most part, whereas highly granular democracy would almost certainly answer to higher levels of government.
Funny, I had a fraud case two weeks ago; as much as I hate Bank of America, I must admit that their fraud department is set up right: the called me while I was in an airport getting ready to board a plane and asked me if I had purchased 2 $2500 western union transfers. I said no, speculated where it may have been snooped (don't use Dulles WiFi) and they cancelled the charges and the card. All I have to do now is sign an affidavit.
bull. When the rich are taxes highly, the tradeoff between investing in a business venture (80% of the profit goes to taxes) and a sports car leans towards the sports car.
Sort of sucks when you have to explain bump keys to an adjuster. Or if you have to explain to them that a VIN and a shady dealership can get you a replacement car key.
I fail to see how this is relevant - lots of people have pages on google, and it's been documented that the federal government itself has politicized the issue, editing a number of papers on the subject prior to publication. Regardless, I challenge you to find a group of scientists who dispute that Global Warming is happening and that we're a likely cause.
All that means is that we observe that 'things fall'. We know how hard due to the theory of gravity, but the mechanics are still a mystery.
Evolution has been a theory for not very long... yes, ancient peoples had ideas of it, but I don't think you'd see them as particularly similar except from a philosophical standpoint.
Darwin isn't that much younger than Newton; anyway, evolution has laws in the same way that gravity does: creatures give birth to similar creatures, isolation + time = new species, and so on.
Instead of arguing from the "theory" side though, I'd rather say this - evolution is a theory, but the scientific community holds to it as if it WERE a law
You don't know what you're talking about. There's nothing past theory - that's as far as you get. If you want to replace evolution, you have to find something that explains all that evolution does and more and it has to last for a while. that will take some time.
Not really. It isn't necessarily bigotry to use stereotypes. Rather, it's how your brain copes with the problem of dealing with huge numbers of people or anything, really - it generalizes, and stereotypes are generally true in part, but distorted to some degree. The only unsophisticated thing is when you fail to separate out the stereotype after getting to know someone.

Anything with wheels and an engine is a racing vehicle - there's a subculture out there that races minivans. some have gotten into the 12s.

so what? Osama's not really in the good graces of his family.
Probably because it's extra work for them and they don't want to; I have a credit union - maybe they'd be up for that.

Funny, I've never had a problem. What sort of rat trap planes do you fly on?
From the stuff on there, I'd say some of them already have.

We're talking file servers here - a DB has some other obvious heavy loads.
So go get a GigE switch and use the router for cable only - they aren't that expensive these days.
yeah, go get a 2u server with a 3ware raid card - $2000 and it can run at disk speeds.
Many require signs of forced entry.

This is one of those life lessons, there are consequences for your actions.
So if you cut someone off in traffic and he rams you into a ditch, you're okay with that? There were consequences for your actions, after all.
The congress controls the purse strings, but the President is their boss.
No he isn't. The Pres. is coequal with SCOTUS and Congress.

For example - if this or that was proven in science, makes it into a science book, and is proven wrong later... what would you call it?
I'd call it not math. Math is the only place where you can prove things; everywhere else, you can only falsify things.
Look at global warming. Both sides think it's proven.
Ahh, but all the scientists are on the side that thinks it's happening and are arguing a bit over how much is due to us.
I believe there are laws of gravity

Well no, it's just that Rumiko Takahashi has done a lot of popular anime. I suppose Takahashi is a popular name, but I don't really know.
You ever seen a scientist write code? It's not pretty, but it gets the job done.
No, that's an MSism - I heard it from them in 1998 during orientation (sounded stupid then, too)
