Red Bull sponsored one of these last year in Dublin. It was quite amusing. It was held in a harbour inlet with a big platform over the water. The flying/gliding machines didn't really go that far. I think 3 or 4 metres won.
The best was a bunch of Finnish guys who were in Dublin having a big piss up before a guy got married. They heard about Flugtag, built something on short notice and made asses of themselves along with everyone else. Quality.
Maybe the SF people will 'fly' further that the Dubliners.
Has anyone accidentally put one any Euro coins through the wash?
The gold coins develop this brownish hue and the bronze coins get this weird sheen. Now I'm not one to question our ECB masters, but one would think that they'd have run these thing through the was with a few different washing powders before unleashing them upon us.
The 5 notes are also crap. They seem to be tearing up very easily.
I work (in Ireland) for a big, evil American multi-national that suffers from the all the symptoms mentioned above. I've also worked startups and governments with the same problems.
Big companies seems to think, "we're so big we can make a big decision and go anyway we please". Often going the wrong way with all the geeks shouting "what are doing?".
Then geeks get together, start an organisation and think, "we're so geeky we can make a geeky decision and go anyway we please". Often the wrong way as well with no one shouting.
I do admire the folks who work for sane organisations and hope one day to be apart of one.
One can get quite wound up over these things but I've developed a morbid sense of curiousity to see how horribly wrong it could all go:)
Folks were handing out BSA flyers saying, "Earn 10,000 euro by reporting a company using unlicensed software". Ummmm...yeah.
I bet one gets the 10,000 euro only if it leads to a fine or law suit. Pure evil.
