I had a similar experience buying a DVD box set from them. The box was shrink wrapped but when I opened it up there wasn't a single disc inside. When I took it back the service rep said something similar, like, "it happens all the time". I got my replacement and all was well. I guess it's less likely for a person to want to steal a spare copy of a TV show than a second hard drive, but unless this person is in the habit of returning to the store trying to return boxes of tiles, then how can they get away with telling that person it happens sometimes, but we're not going to do anything about it, please shop with us again.
will people pay them big money just because they have a fancy '1 million bit key' and a closed encryption scheme? why trust them? they make a big deal out of offering a prize to anybody who can break it, and nobody was able to. but there's tons of ways to encrypt a file that can't be brute forced in a few months.
it's their web site, they can do what ever they want with it. some sites flat out deny browsers that id themselves as IE and i don't ever see anybody complaining about that.
When the first movie was made, Lucas already had a rough idea of the full story, however at that time it wasn't possible to put Jar Jar or Natalie Portman in the movie (i don't think she was even born yet.) Special effects at the time just simply couldn't make it happen. But now the technology is there to put Jar Jar in, and Natalie Portman can go ahead and play her own part since she exists now. Just wait 20 or so more years, I hear Mr. Lucas has some pretty big surprises for episodes 1-3 in the works, but he won't be 100% sure what they are until he starts filming the back story to the first 3 films.
I am in good to hear about this. i heard that at one time they put the windows program in a navy ship and it crashed and the ship was stuck drifting for some time untell they could get it back running but i dont know if they fixed the probelm or took off the windows from the boat. somtimes those are the only kinds of stories we hear the most and i get perhaps the wrong appenion about some americas related.

I have been afraid a lot of when there will be cars on the roads but nobodey inside of them driving becouse what happens when there is an accedent involveing one of these running into your car and you are injured. no matter how good these can drive in a strate line or what ever, there will be somthing situation that it will not handel correct and peopel will possebly get hurt or killed. and once that happens once then it will be hard for the companey to stay in bisness.
I am not from German. I am of Kazakstan which was USSR until we independance in 1991. and second of all you probebly werent even alive in ww2 and i wasn't too. I'm shure there are some German reading slashdot that are good and should be take offendend. Another thing is that meny more people of USSR died in ww2 than americas or any where else. I assumed to find more intellengence people on the slashdot but there's always a one persen who will make other peoples look bad i guess.
The German govertment would devenetly have l33t skizlz compared to the american one because of american being owned by the windows companey and not being abel to do anything a.out it.
I have notice my hard drive making that grinding noies every time i run a program. The comp-usa guy told me that it was due to fragmention(?) where programs end up getting lost on the drive and the computor has to spend a lot of times searching on the drive for the missing peaces. Even if you have the fastest kind of ram it still dosent mean that the data on the drive isnt missing.
...is that eventhogh the goverment doesnt like us the fact that it is very easy for me to get copyrighted data that even if i use the software to only downlode the data that i already bought becouse i cant find my origenal cd then im not breaking the law at all. only because they arent capebal of getting only the bad peopel that i have to suffer and im not doing anything rong.
I thought that by the definetion of FSF that SUN would be required to include the GPL in their SQL app. If they messed up on something like this then they deserve what ever they get.
OK, time for a quik teaching. gas companys don't send carben menoxide to houses. carben menoxide is a biproduck of chemecal(sp?) factorys. what the gas company where i live does is send a kind of gas that burns in your stove or water header. So befor you go around telling other people that they are rong you should check your facts first.

i have a frend who did this a computor and said that his it ran faster than befor but when it turned on it make the lites in his house go less brite so i deceded to not do it to mine! but mabey you will lern some thing!
I hate it when somebody intelegant posts something that is smart and peranoid at the same time that also points out something i didn't think of myself that goes beyond what i even thought of. that's what i get for reading slashdot while at work!!! i garuntee that as soon as the goverment can make it elegal to have guns that they will starting doing all this type of stuff.
Before long they will require us all to register email addresses as @ssa.gov. i've already got mine registered at yahoo and msn but this would just be too much.

what's the difference between this and sound effects tapes?
1. these are sounds you may not hear often
2. they are really quiet
I never considered sound effects tapes to be music, just sounds.
