Remember that 800 trillion "stimulus"? Everyone agreed to make it available online for 48 hours before the final vote. The 48 hours thing didn't happen. And I hope you like PDFs that consist entirely of scanned images.
Time Geithner. The Treasury Secretary, the guy in charge of the IRS, couldn't get his taxes right. Tom Daschle, former senate minority and majority leader, couldn't get his taxes right. Charlie Rangle, one of the most important people when it comes to tax law, couldn't get his taxes right. Every time a new cabinet is assembled, half a dozen people drop out of consideration because they didn't pay their taxes. And no doubt more refuse consideration for the same reason.
People who write the law don't understand the law. People who enforce the law don't understand the law.
That's my experience, too. In American bukake, the guys are grunting, high fiving each other, and yelling comments like "take it bitch". In Japanese bukake, the men are very quiet and respectful. You can actually hear the woman crying in shame.
New York was heavily dependent on wall street/banker money and expanded government spending during the subprime bubble.. That money dried up big time and they are one of the hardest hit states. There's no chance of any tax credit. In fact, you should hope they don't start taxing FREE software.
going LGPL is a very good step with no downside for the open source community. Previously, if a company wanted to release a closed QT app, they paid for the proprietary license and released their closed source app with a closed source QT. Now, they can still release their closed source app, BUT the QT part will still be LGPL so users can replace it if they need to. (And if they make any changes to QT, they'll be FOSS)
Fact is, GPL can (and is) used as a tool to push non-FREE licenses on dual-licensed software. The LGPL is better in that respect.
