    Almost all the debian packages (at least that I've seen) are available for ARM. The only exceptions I know of are some architecture specific stuff (like Xen or virtual box). Oh, no gnat either. Hope you don't like ADA. (Maybe you could cross compile it if you're desperate).

    Some combination of git and libz is flaky as hell, though. That's the biggest problem I've had.

    I think most companies cares more about a kernel that works than a kernel that is "clean". Fact is, I have debian running on ARM-based linux products and ot frequently involves non-free drivers or microcode because there are no FREE drivers available.

    it could also be management turf wars. They have some decent programmers. MS Research does some pretty cool shit. From the comforts of my armchair, it's primarily a management problem. (That's also the opinion of a few buddies that have interviewed and worked there.)

    Generally, insurance companies do not and cannot operate across state lines, which is part of the problem. Individual states set mandates and rules, things that must be covered, etc. If you could buy a less expensive plan from out of state (that didn't cover shit like hair removal, accupuncture, hair transplants, etc), it wouldn't be "fair" to everyone else that wanted subsidized anus bleachings.

    that's wrong. directories (trees) store the mode, type, hash, and name. They do not store the size. this is a good read of git's internals.

    That's funny, but SHAKEs ("elder") are arabic, SHAs ("king") are persian/iranian. There is a difference and they get mad when you confuse them. They all look alike to me, but whatever.

    For those of us that didn't read the article, wikileaks revealed that the SHA has terminal cancer and will die soon. That's why they're looking for a new SHA-3. The SHA is kind of like the Dalai Lama, but with a unix greybeard. I'm glad they've narrowed down the candidates. Hopefully, the next one will bring peace in the middle east.

    Our lawyers won't let us convert our svn repositories to git since git uses SHA-1, which is known to be vulnerable to collisions. Hopefully, they pick a SHA-3 soon!

    Actually, that's 4 types of people. An "x types of people" sig doesn't correspond to how lame you think it is -- a person could have an "x types of people" sig and consider it lame or a sig-less person could consider it not lame.

    I was also confused, so I did some research. Turns out, most people clean themselves -- soap, showers, shampoo, brushing teeth, trim their hair, etc -- on a regular basis. It helps to avoid looking and smelling like a homeless person.
