eh, on OS X, it's a steaming pile of shit. I only use it when a file isn't supported in QuickTime. Of course, the vast majority of the time, it doesn't play correctly or crashes VLC.
The Mac App Store provides recipts/DRM, but there is no automatic checking. The developer needs to add a couple lines of code to check that 1. the receipt exists and 2. it's my receipt. Both steps are optional (yes, you can distribute DRM-free apps) so if they didn't care, they wouldn't do either. They did step 1 which looks a lot more like a bug or misreading of the DRM validation guidelines.
Sell? Not exactly. Google doesn't make money selling/licensing an OS or selling apps, they make money selling ads. They prefer you get a free (as in ad-supported) app than a paid one. If you (as a developer or user) like that model, cool. But if not, too bad because the google app store only supports paid apps in 32 countries (that number was 14 until just a couple months ago).
the interesting MS news of the day: confirming earlier rumors, there will be an ARM version of Windows. And Office. Should go nice with the new NVIDEA ARM processors targeted towards desktops, servers, and high performance supercomputer clusters. (Just kidding, I'll buy one and run Linux).
They are (or can be) full blown OS X Cocoa apps, but there are some restrictions on what's allowed -- eg, no PPC code running under rosetta, no Java, and some system utility type apps are banned.
OS X uses llvm just-in-time compilation in the graphics stack. If the hardware supports it, it's sent to the GPU. Otherwise, it's done in software. Since android is based on dalvik, they shouldn't have a problem doing something similar. Sure, they need to support cheap pieces of shit, but that doesn't mean they can't support anything else.
In 2008, Apple hit just under $200/share before dropping to $100/share at the end of the year. If you look at the actual numbers from 2007 to today, they've been consistently getting better and beating expectations. They had the growth, they had the products, attitude and attitude alone cut it in half. For almost a year, the same line was marched out: "It's a recession and people will cut back on Apple products." (Apple posts blowout quarter while everyone else hemorrhages cash and Dell uses intel kickbacks to fudge the numbers) "Well, they had a good quarter, but next quarter will suffer." Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
To a large degree, the fundamentals don't matter as much as the attitude and the hype. Look at the tulip bubble, the.com bubble, the real estate bubble(s), etc.
Normally, the only "proof" needed is a printout from the breathalyzer machine. You can insist on a blood draw instead, but that might vary from state to state. I won't go into all the problems with breathalyzers, but let me just point out the B in BAC is "Blood", not "Breath".
most generic vodkas (plastic jug, cheap price) are essentially watered down everclear. But the people who buy it (students and drunks) aren't buying it for the flavor.
Not in the US: Vodka'' is neutral spirits so distilled, or so treated after
distillation with charcoal or other materials, as to be without
distinctive character, aroma, taste, or color. (Code of Federal Regulations, title 27, volume 1)
Speaking only for myself, I wouldn't care about dongles or hacking it if they hadn't removed the Other OS option. I'm sure it will primarily be used for warezing, but I don't have the time or inclination for that shit (hell, I have more than enough games I haven't finished yet). Linux support was an important factor in buying my PS3. Had it not been a feature, I probably would have bought an XBox360 -- that's what most of my friends play and the games I do have (Orange Box, Fallout 3, etc) have fewer bugs and better support.
is that California state law?
I don't think anyone can explain the appeal to you.
A good analysis, but why the racism? a "chink" in your private property? Not cool. BTW, Sony is Japanese, not Chinese.
A bear party in the basement? I thought they closed down the geek compound.
Yes.
And she's a hot piece of ass. By congressional standards, anyway.
535 assholes, by any chance?

That quote didn't originate with Robert Kiyosaki. He's the Dan Brown of financial advice.

pink has a beard and smells like fish. If all you see is brown (smells like shit), pink is on the other side.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think an amateur sex change is a good idea. Best leave it to the experts.

no
in all fairness, those people were retired New Yorkers.

i grew up on the east coast and never gave a shit. Probably a new york city thing.

That's a completely useless article. There's basically no meaningful information until a footnote at the end that it's a rebadged, Indian made Reva.
