Videotron is my ISP and I've been happy with them for many years but if they start pulling any of this shit they won't have to kick me... I'll gladly switch ISPs.

I know someone who was in exactly the same position. He decided to stick with IT for the sake of his family. However, as chance would have it, he was renovating his driveway with techo-block. He did such an amazing job that all of his neighbors wanted their driveways done too. In the end he discovered he could make more money landscaping than IT.

Even if there was proof of ETI our governments would cover it up. Is it really a paradox if we have no chance of obtaining proof?

  8. Re:Equally instable on Switching to Contracting? · · Score: 1

My brother has been doing contract work for several years now and he has three kids. In general it pays more but you have less job security. Some employers go this route because it's easier to get rid of a contract employee than a fulltimer. If they like your work they will probably ask you to come on full time. If not, well... be prepared to read between the lines.

It's nice to hear that some Canadian companies are taking advantage of Linux however some are doing just the opposite. I work for an aerospace company in Montreal. In the past Linux was used a lot. Now, I fear, some high and mighty VP has decided that Windose is the way to go. I have been forced to witness the slow transformation of our key systems go from Linux to you know what...

  10. I could work if... on Attacking the Spammer Business Model · · Score: 1

The only way such an approach could work is if everyone were to reply multiple times. Instead of having filters such as spamassasin just delete spam, it would reply automatically with 100 spoof emails. You have to admit, no matter how much bandwidth a spammer may have if they got 100 replies for each million they send that would be a bit overwhelming. However it is doubtful that the masses would change their approach to spam over night. Without mass cooperation it will never work.
