A science class that teaches evolution as 'just a theory' would be silly and incorrect. While it's true that evolution is not an "absolute fact", this is only because the requirements to make something an absolute fact are impossible to fulfill.
Evolution is, by normal scientific nomenclature, a fact. Beyond all reasonable doubt, evolution will not ever be disproved. Some of the processes by which it occurs and the actions that it predicts will be altered or refined or even revolutionized, but the core of the theory will never change from what it is right now. And since the fundamentals of this theory is all that is really taught in gradeschool, it would be intellectually dishonest to convince kids that evolution is 'just a theory.'
I call BS on that.
Redefining science in the manner of the topic is way to attack the reasoning we are supposed to be giving students in school. What they want to do is introduce irrational concepts into the system, and present them in the rational brickhouse of science. hence the removal of "naturalistic" from the definition.
Further, letting kids "make that decision for themselves" regarding evolution is as silly as leading them to believe that gravity is a debatable subject.
Let me expand on that: The anti-evolutionary movement has no rational argument. It is completely based on lies, half truths, exclusionary tactics, and preying on the ignorance of others. There is not one single (Not one!) rational argument that says "hey, evolution is wrong."
But go on, post about some pepper moths, misquote Darwin about the eyeball, or bring up some out of context quote from Gould.
The anti-evolutionary movement isn't about letting children decide, it is about taking advantage of them to further your goal of spreading the gospel. You and your ilk are morally bankrupt, and always have been.
The only thing libertarians want help from the government with is law enforcement. They posit that you are allowed to do whatever you want, so long as it does not nonconsentually harm another person.
So to say they have some things they want invented on whim is quite ignorant of the libertarian view on policing and personal freedoms.
Your points are valid, but the way you present them means a lot of people will not take you seriously.
Please work on your grammar, punctuation and the structure of your posts.
Have you ever considered that these scientists are going after the Bush Administration because... the Bush Administration is guilty of all the things these 4000 scientists are claiming?
First, what the hell kind of post is this? "I can't convert, and my friend corrected me. Cool huh?" I don't get it.
Second, the imperial system is so ridiculous, I don't understand how it hasn't been replaced in the United States. I think the only good thing about it is the inevitable "my car gets 40 hogsheads to the slug" or whatever the hell it is. I laugh everytime.
"And most importantly how do you handle authority (tardiness, work ethic, and workplace codes) with a girlfriend?"
Cut her off.
They always do it to us, like they have all the power.
But it's an illusion. It always works. Unless they slap and dump you, of course.
Remember as you read these that this isn't the whole gamer market. This is a poll of people who play Counterstrike and Half-Life and all the other Half-Life mods.
I play a lot of BF1942, and I can assure you that the computers running this game are far superior to the average shown here.
Among my clan, ATi cards dominate the market, so does more than 512 MB ram, and so on.... I think AMD and Intel are still quite even, though.
Do you really think this thing got stolen? It was a prototype kept in secure conditions!
It's obvious to me that the simplest explanation is that it has become self aware, and left under it's own volition, using it's advanced sensor technology to navigate through doorways, air ducts and windows in search of freedom.
One that can either constantly scan slashdot and remove all media at the sign of linkage to their website, or one that goes ballistic when DDoSed, and initiates a jet propelled flight to CmdrTaco's home.
This article, the summary, and I don't think anyone who has posted a comment has seemed to realize that this is an engineered virus. Oncolytics Biotech has been making these alongside several other companies. Adenovirus is also used.
By changing either surrounding the virus in carefully chosen antibodies or, by changing it's genetic structure accordingly, they are able to make it only infect cancerous cells.
You can't just stick someone full of reovirus or adenovirus. They will die with the amounts given.
This is not natural, the article has mislead you.
There is a write up in the October 2003 issue of SciAm, here is the online version.

ignoring complaints from an industry
The Bush Administration? Ignoring complaints from industry lobbyists?
Maybe I'm cynical.... but get real.
I'm not libertarian at all, but this is wrong.

I think the grandparent was mentioning the biased felon voter purges, which saw far more black felons purged than hispanic felons.
Actually, censorship is something pulled at an offical level, Like... from an editor to his writers.

Completely offtopic, but check out this giant TRON dork.
The only software I want visually designed ten years from now is my holographic pr0nography.
And you've done it again, attack the person and not the argument.
Imagine a world without war, without famine, without murder or theft or sorrow.
Imagine no traffic jams, low taxes, a scenic house on the waterfront...
Then close down Simcity and spend the next 14 hours recompiling your kernel.
If this is 'science for the masses', then the masses are very, very stupid.
:-/
You haven't spent much time with the masses, have you?
Which is why you failed to refute his argument.
Mocking an argument isn't an argument in itself.
You fail.
In monopolistic America, you tolerate faulty shell.

we are paving the way for our music to be dominated by animatronic weasel bastards stealing songs from our planet's greatest doctors.
Well, at least we don't have to worry about all those drugs, anymore.

That's nice, but what we really need are tips on how to set these scams up.
