Hit your starter button while you are over the sensor, that will generally trigger it. Motorcycles are not like cars - you won't grind anything by doing it with the motor running. This has worked on all of my Yamahas.
As a previous poster said - "But a gun" I you don't think you can deal with the responsibility of a gun then get a dog to protect you.

But any well tempered dog will work. Labs love everbody until someone threatens one of their owners!
Mastiff type dogs like Filas are easier to deal with, though. They lay around most of the day. They do not require that you take them running every day (like a Collie) They are wonderful with kids. They generally don't bark - if you weigh 200 pounds and can kill almost anything that comes across your path then why do you need to bark???
I love Banks!!! I have a pre-print copy of Use of Weapons signed by him. I got it by sending in a form at the back of one of his books. You had to be one of the first 50 to send it in.
It must have been somewere areound 1990-1991. The actual book came out in March/April of 1992.
