I find that the logical thought process needed for my IT job was exactly the kind of skill that a poker player needs as a base. I've been playing poker online for a year now and have done fairly well.
I find that it's a very fun, and profitable, hobby to have on the side. I'm playing enough now that I do consider it a side job... in fact, I make a better hourly wage than at my real job! The best part about it is, I can play whenever I have a spare hour or two... I don't have to schedule it in.
I've started getting all of my other friends in IT hooked on it as well:)
I went through a computer science undergrad which was part of the math faculty. As such, about a third of my courses were in math... not CS, math.
At first, I thought along the same lines as many of you. Unless I got into some hardcore graphics coding, I never thought I'd use half of what I was learning. And you know what? I was right.
However, what took me a while to realize is that this conclusion does not make math courses a waste. Those math courses, full of really tough proofs and theorems, tought me how to think. Every single day I use the thought patterns that I learned in my math courses to perform my programming job much better than if I had not been exposed to those math courses.
Were the math courses hard as hell? Damn straight! Were they worth it? Definitely:)
Uhhhh, Gríma Wormtongue (Smeagle)??? Grima Wormtongue was not animated - he was the character poisoning the thoughts of Theodin. The two main animated characters were Gollum (Smeagol) and Treebeard.
However, I must agree with you, Gollum was done REALLY well.. I can't wait to see Shelob in Part 3!
Well, if I had this kind of power, I'd make a lifeform with these characteristics:
1. Able to complete all my homework for me.
2. Will take on a female humanoid form and provide sexual gratification upon request.
3. Will do all annoying chores around the house such as cleaning the bathroom, taking out the garbage and washing the dishes.
Basically, I'd create the perfect woman. Hmmm, I better throw "Will not ask you if they're fat" in that list...

I remember when the Americans invested over a billion dollars into researching a pen that would work in space.
:)
The Russians? They used a pencil

You FINALLY found a girl who think enough of you to use the phone number you gave her. She's hot, sweet and intelligent with a great sense of humour.
"You must agree to pay this geek 5 cents a minute while talking to him," a nasally voice greets her after she dials your number.
"FUCK THAT!"
There goes the love of your life...

"Microsoft would support... licensed an opensource..."
Now there's two words I thought I'd never see connected in the same sentence!
