    I use a lot of languages but I do all my prototyping on my Mac in VBA/Excel native code before I branch out into other platforms.

    I get spam for news, spam for movies, spam for TV, spam for exercise products, spam for books, spam for tech gadgets, spam for all kinds of things. A lot of the promos are not so bad. I did get a nice DVD of Mulholland Drive once.

    Perhaps their concerns lead them to do the opposite of what they ought to do. Kind of like a dine and dash seems like a good idea at the time until the cops are at your door.

  12. In all seriousness, we talk about planned obsolescence or poor warranty/support as though the parts those ideas apply to are the problem. When a part is not maintained or faulty, it damages other parts. Its not just the engine of an AM going bad, its what that does to the rest of the car. Something to keep in mind when criticizing or oversimplifying an idea.

  16. Depends on the car. I have friends who live for working on their cars. An Aston Martin deserves to be parked in a nice garage, taken for a spin every so often and have the oil changed on schedule.

    Or, users and corps preclear with the government. That is the well-understood and easy way. Then it isn't fines, its negotiated payments. We have seen this much more often than the other two scenarios. Of course, since most people are on vacation, we won't see how many companies try this approach until we read the news next year.
