Developers aren't user-interface creators. I hope you aren't hoping to treat them as such. In my world, developers are generally too technical to design interfaces, unless those interfaces are mere copies of existing paradigms - their minds are just wired to fix a problem, not to fix it in the most elegant way from a user's standpoint. If you don't have dedicated "human factors" teams or Marketing teams that can do this, you are in a tough position. Developers certainly have some useful insight into what works and doesn't, but I wouldn't ever require them to design the thing from scratch. I'm not saying you can't find some books that will help improve their skills on the subject, but I hope you're going in with the correct goal in mind...
Exactly. It is also possible that the OP gave them his mailing info during some previous transaction. This go around, they could have just connected the card number with his stored account info. Not terribly tin foil worthy.
but before letting me go, ran me through the system looking for warrants or anything to nail me on! I
As an objective listener of your story, I find it more likely that the copy was looking up your record to see if you have made other such (possible) made-up stories before. From his perspective, you did after all just lead him on a wild goose chase. I would be surprised at all if the tips they get often turn up as unfruitful. In such instances, those resources might have been better served responding to more important calls - the call to that same area for a different reason, as you mention.
Interesting.
Imagine if the only way you could die was in some accident. Would people suddenly focus on avoiding dangerous situations that might cause them to die? Human beings currently take chances in large part because death is inevitable. Also, most of the ways you can die currently (shot, crushed, starvation, etc) aren't exactly pleasant things to look forward to compared to a natural death. That might make for a very twisted society if that's all you had to look forward to.
On the plus side, the obituaries might turn into a listing of the most interesting deaths that occurred that day...
When my cell phone vibrates during a movie and I look at the number to determine if it should go to voicemail or if I should excuse myself, no one is inconvenienced.
Yeah because seeing a bright blue neon light out of the corner of my eye while in a dimlit room is not annoying in the least bit. I honestly don't think people with cellphones understand how distracting they are to everyone around them.
Just so you know the article is basically about the Japanese take on CG use. NOT about Anime. Just because it comes from a production house that does Anime doesn't mean the article is focused on Anime. You could at least RTFA before lambasting the poster for putting up a story that you find intersting.
Unfortunately the story linked is light on intersting info (hardly worth posting IMO). But
as a geek I am very intersted in CG & Animation - Anime or Western is all good to me. I say more stories on it!
... or if it turns out that the "asteroid" is a camouflaged Vogon starship, and by attacking it, we trigger an interstellar war.
Or prevent one.

No. The 's' is silent. Like the 'e' in nuclear when the president speaks. Sheesh. Learn American, not English! ;)
