I just found out what slashdot editors do all year: they prepare for this day, year after year, to make April 1st the great holiday we geeks deserve! Thanks! Oh, and if you ever need a job, Google is hiring...
For one thing, using short tags will prevent you from working rendering xml files, since the header doesn't get parsed correctly. So you have to use the long version: which is't so bad.
Also, if you need a lightweight template engine that actually deals with php, go with savant, you won't regret it: http://phpsavant.com/
Knoppix, while using a hodgepodge of package repositories, seems better with each release (every couple of weeks). Still kanotix might be better suited for you, since it's closer to debian in its choice of packages.
Your reply might be off-topic (this whole thread is...), I'd still give you mod points for being insightful if I could. Where are mod points when you need them!
I've been wondering why spammers don't use more relevant words, instead of random dictionnary words. In the long run, relevant words would "poison" you bayes filter, since you'd be flagging mails with "good words" so often. Anyway, I won't give too many details here - I don't want to help the bad guys for free!
actually, your atm card isn't yours - it's still the property of the bank that issued it. I wouldn't be surprised if there were special rules to use an atm, such as only using a bank issued card.
Actually, if you mean "gigs" like in gigabytes, then this abbreviation is appropriate: GiB; I'm not too comfortable adding an "s" when it's plural. Another thing, the standard abbreviation for a byte is "B" - in capital. "b" doesn't mean anything. If you want to say "bit", you have to spell it out. But this is _way_ of topic, sorry...
I've been searching for the last hour (well, I didn't do _just_ that) for a page I remember seeing with drawings of various distro users. If anybody remembers the url, please say so here.
obligatory imdb link
Works for my mozilla 1.7, w2k + flash
maybe something like this blog treemap, or this one that represents file sizes
Please correct the google news link. I can't get to the site...

golly, what a sad state of affairs we have here. It will pass in due time...
I'd like to give you points back... how did you manage to get -1 for that comment?
Another nice templating engine that also "relies" on php is savant.

... but who'll notice?
Why do you think MS markets its oses 5 years in advance?

I'm serious. http://physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/binary.html for all the groovy details. If anything, it's a move away from the hd manufacturers lingo.
Wow, I didn't expect the rover had 128MiB of RAM, or 256MiB of flash. Funny to think they had to run chkdsk from so far away :)
yeah - usually, the article are published somewhere else, and slashdot merely borrows the juiciest bits for their page.
actually, you didn't even have to read the article for that tidbit: it's up there with the story!
P.S.: fixed a typo, oups...
One thing I appreciate is google now only shows a couple of hits for each subdomain by default. That helps keep the clutter away.
what more can I say... mod parent up!
that's 6e6 items: pictures, usenet posts, etc.
Found it! It appeared in the linux gazette of november 2001 - I thought it was a year ago maybe. Gee, time flies!
http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue72/alcidi.htmlWhat I found on the other hand was the Distro Taste Test - Linux & Beer - have a look :)
