    Almost... when I wrote it, I didn't know about that trick. I figured the parameter was an md5 string, and gave instructions on how to use that. But soon, I wrote a small script to turn the result of a URL search into an RSS feed, something del.icio.us itself doesn't yet provide. I never thought it would make slashdot though - not really prepared for that at all!

    .node is multilingual (french and english for now) and we certainly appreciate the subtleties of your language. Buzz me if you want to have a good peek inside. Subscribing to .node gets a blog, a foaf file, forums, calendars and a bunch of communities. Oh, and I heard people hung out there too :)

    Still, the presence of a lot of those songs on such a list is "questionnable" to say the least. But Clear Channel knows what's best for us I'm sure.

    They're the ones that banned a bunch of songs from their huge army of radio stations after 9/11.

    When I saw this on Ars Technica yesterday, I was going to put another mark on my slashdot ESP - I was sure to see this come up. Oups, I forgot it in one of my 50 browsers now open...

    Hmmm, crispy. I just hope not everyone will run away scared by this. The patent will hopefully be invalidated, or shown not to cover the whole process.

    Last week I wouldn't have known what a "Kinkaid" was, but since I have found diction and style for my debian installation.

    diction can compute the Kincaid Formula, Automated Readability Index, the Coleman-Liau Formula and a few more indexes. It would be a simple matter to incorporate those sources into OO.

    You just need 8 desktop machines and you can index a 10th of what google does. From a recent article:
    Gigablast runs on eight desktop machines, each with four 160-GB IDE hard drives, two gigs of RAM, and one 2.6-GHz Intel processor. It can hold up to 320 million Web pages (on 5 TB), handle about 40 queries per second and spider about eight million pages per day. Currently it serves half a million queries per day to various clients, including some meta search engines and some pay-per-click engines.
    I also read it was going to expand it's index this year, but I wasn't able to find where I read that.
