  1. April Fools! on Apple's Rumored PowerPod · · Score: 4, Interesting

From the link: "Apple today announced the PowerPod, the world's smallest portable video and music player with integrated video and digital camera. The device can hold over 1,000 songs or 100 movies and will be available in the summer of 2004 for $699 from the Apple Store and Apple Authorized Resellers throughout the U.S. The PowerPod is a half-inch thick, encased in an ultra-portable lightweight durable body and is available in 20, 40 and 60GB models. The PowerPod features a hi-resolution 5 x 3.5-inch touch-screen LCD and a 1.2 megapixel integrated digital camera, users can record and view movies while on the go or perform wireless video messaging while connected via a WiFi network. The dual external speakers can be used for audio playback for movies or for private listening with an external headphone jack. It also features an integrated microphone for video conferencing. With a 400Mhz RISC processor the USB 2.0 and FireWire handheld runs on the new Mac OS Portable OS. Basically, a stripped down version with PDA and Video functionality intended primarily for Video recording and playback, instant messaging, web browsing, email and address book." As we can see from apple.com, no such 'PowerPod' exists. I've been waiting for a Newton replacement for years, but it's all a cruel joke today.

  2. Yeah, Think Secret is reliable on Macworld: No new Towers, But 17-inch iMac · · Score: 5, Interesting

Seriously, Think Secret might be the only rumor site still spewing out stuff on a daily basis, but they have NO RELIABILITY! Before AppleInsider disappeared and As the Apple Turns turned into a 'sometimes weekly depending on the baby' show, Think Secret was the joke of the Mac community. They were like Weekly World News; amusing but you knew you were reading garbage. Now we are expected to take their 'rumors' as fact? Sure, they can speculate like everyone else, but the fact that Slashdot and CNET News.com run the story at all is embarassing. The guy does this for hits, plain and simple. If they were somewhat reliable, don't you think that Apple would take them down? This especially holds true when the mass media picks up the story.

  3. WAPs + Airport on LED Lights: Friend or Foe? · · Score: 3, Funny

So I should put big, bulky Duck Tape over my beautiful Airport Base Station? No way! Plus, I get poor enough reception in some parts of my own house, never mind my neighbors spying on me. ;-)
