Considering that this bill requires the implementation one of the core ideas in the book, ie. the purposeful destruction and reshaping of information, it is quite rich that you would use it to try and rally support for the bill.
Looking at your groklaw link, I don't see anyone asking to expand on the lawsuits. That was information he offered that was unrequested. Furthermore, as soon as he does, the judge moves on to other topics and other jurors. When during the transcript on the groklaw link do you think he should have brought it up?
When did he lie during the jury selection process? All I heard was that he answered the questions as put forth, but did not expand with additional information that was not asked (ie. him being sued by Seagate).
Can you explain to me why you think that posting a random reply to the first comment shouldn't be discouraged? As I explained in a later comment, it's annoying to the initial poster and to anyone who is actually interested in the subject he/she brought up. If he posted a new thread rather than replying to the first comment, I'd have no problem with it.
But instead, he posted as a reply to the first comment, in order to, I'm guessing, get his "dupe" comment viewed before all the other "dupe" comments already posted.
I'm just honestly trying to make the community better by bringing up this issue. Maybe I could have phrased it better, but often simple direct criticism works better than a longer drawn out critique, however blunt it may be.
Close your eyes. Imagine that time period between 1870 to 2005 as a single dot at the 2001 - 2005 mean. There, now you can interpret the graph without the "distortion". It might show the temperature at a high point, but it is at a local high point. In addition, temperatures have risen just as quickly 400 thousand years ago, 100 thousand years ago and 20 thousand years ago. So, yea, it does appear pretty usual.
The problem is that the first few initial threads get washed by a tidal wave of generic posts meant to grab attention, rendering the whole post and reply paradigm meaningless. It's annoying to the original poster as well as to anyone who is actually interested in the topic he/she brought up.
He was replying to the first comment in order to get his "oh it's a dupe" comment above everyone elses to I assume get more karma. I was protesting the way he posted, not the content of his post.
That could also be explained by the looming fiscal cliff. The gridlock due to a republican house, and a democrat senate and president may prevent it from being resolved. Things might be very different with a single party house, senate and president
Independence doesn't mean only that event A doesn't cause event B. If events A and B are both caused by event C, then A and B are not independent of each other. For example, without knowing any other information, if you knew that Florida and Virginia polls showed the Republican's in the lead, can you make an educated guess as to what Ohio voted for? If you can, the individual state polls aren't independent.
Just a side note, does the fact that the bitcoin volume has been drying up recently bother you? I wonder if it's just been mainly hype that keeps the bitcoin price afloat so far. I suppose if someone does come up with a really successful idea that incorporates bitcoin this will change, but so far, every company that uses them has been very obscure and I can't imagine a lot of volume... besides, of course, the silk road. But if bitcoin hangs it hat on that and only that, it will bound to end up being a massive and drama filled disaster. (I know all the arguments about how bitcoin is impenetrable to government intervention, but I don't really believe that..)
Somewhat like social security. Each generation creates a larger shell, only to have the largest one ripped away from them by current retires when social security collapses. At the end of which, the current workforce get the remaining scraps.

Why would the handshake need to be encrypted?
I don't like running random executables on the same OS that I do my banking.
I used to love that game. 20 cents for 101 degrees FTW

Replying to first post with an unrelated reply is obvious Karma whoring
How can the GP be less than the NP on the double? That's some crazy math you're doing

How is it a one party system? There is always going to be some ideological overlap between different political parties.

But they improve and refine them. And they like the already improved and refined shells better.

You shouldn't take pictures if you are unsure of the legality of doing so.
I think you meant:

It took me several tries to parse the title without the image of a dog's face exploding spontaneously entering my mind.
Oh tell me great wise one... what must I do to stop being part of the flock and to exercise free will?
His 7% of the poll can be explained pretty easily. If I didn't know any of the candidates, and I saw "Fishman", I'd vote for him just on principle.
If the currency is headed for collapse, then why are the treasury rates so low?
