How is being convicted on the basis of a speed camera any worse than convicting someone from CCTV footage?
In this instance, there is no human filter. Speeding, flash, ticket in the mail. CCTV footage is merely evidence in a trial, with a of your 'peers' and a judge.
can some sort of mechanism to identify each car by RFID or something equivalent help ?
Aside from the obvious privacy issues, and the technical issues (distance from the reader), tell us how you would prevent that from being spoofed. Vehicle body color, make/model, plate #, gender of the driver, maybe even the face (as referenced above) should be close enough. No need for yet another faulty tracking mechanism.
The internet allows then to target market, and understand audiences much better than the print, and cathode ray based media.
Not necessarily. Targeting is not just by want, but also by time and location. Print and TV are location based, due to physics.
For example, if we take a fast food restaurant: By necessity, location based. Corporate wants to run a trial sandwich, only in a certain area, for a certain period of time. It will advertise that new McStinky only on the local channels, for a specific price. Hence, only the local people see it. With internet based ads, your connection can come from anywhere, to anywhere. So a lot of people will cruise down to their local McScotsman, looking for the new McStinky sandwich. And the person behind the counter will have no clue.
Same with snow tires (Mexico vs Montreal), sandals in February(Miami vs Bangor), or speedboats (San Diego vs Iowa).
Yes, they are screwing it up. But there are a LOT of considerations on where and how to spend those ad dollars beyond just 'format'.
40% of the replies will be "do not filter anything, you Nazi!" 1/2 of those will be "Do everything in your power to circumvent the existing school board rules." Another 30% will say "don't bother, because the kids will just go around your blockages."(thinking that all school kids are as adept as the ubergeeks here are)
You may get a very few replies about how you can actually do what your job requires.
The first time I sat in a 'front line' fighter jet, I was amazed at how 'beat' it was. F-111E, England, mid 70's. Some of you can figure out what base it was.
But yes...those things are well used, but well-maintained. And very, very cool.
Doesn't matter. Simply for engaging the candidate in a discussion, he was investigated by the media. That they found some weirdnesses does not make it OK.
...because it seems there is no statute that hasn't been overturned. Please help me to be better educated. Here's the best I could find on short notice...
COPA, CIPA, COPPA, etc.
How about we establish a music tax and allow musicians to register their copyrights with the Library of Congress to get a cut of it?
How about no. I want my money to go to what I choose. Just in the music world, there are many, many acts/groups/people that I would refuse to support. Just as with grouped charities(Combined Federal Campaign). There are many subgroups that I would rather not, and will not, support. Period.
I don't want everyone to have a share. I want *my* money to go where *I* want.
So the music industry is trying to sell a blanket license, so that it can monetize its assets without suing customers. Isn't this a step in the right direction? Calling it a tax instead of a blanket license is just inflammatory, IMHO
Wrong. They would like to force me to pay for music I don't listen to, have no interest in downloading, and even less interest in buying. And in some cases (violent gangsta rap), actively dislike. Not a chance.
Lets change the rules a little. How about a 'software blanket license'? No matter what s/w you use...you must pay. A portion of that goes to Microsoft, Oracle, Novell, Sun, etc, etc, etc. Whether you use products from them or not. Even if your personal/corporate usage is strictly FOSS..you must pay. How about a large dose of Kiss My Ass.
Rats. Oh well, it sounded good. But I'm not getting a whole new Tivo box, until I have a need for it (i.e. an HD TV). And I expect there are a LOT of people like this.
Shit, go to www.4chan.org and troll the /b/ forum. It is all for the lulz.
As referenced in #2 above.

Or even siblings. My brother and I have been asked several times if we are twins. He is 6 yrs younger than I am.

You forgot the reverse vampires.
Could you provide a photo of these signs to back up your claim?
You can't read them (two white blobs), but here they are. Langley AFB VA, just outside the West Gate.
RAF Upper Heyford?
You get a cookie.
..only partially

Let the control column move! Let the switches switch! Will it really cost so much to replace the occasional switch and clean it out sometimes?
And have a broken flight stick, etc every week. Not 'once in a while'. Once a week. Some kids are idiots, and will break stuff.
...and how much does it cost to ship it?
If you have to ask...

Also, how is gp's comment flamebait?
The mod system here is broken. We don't have a "-1 Dumbass".
Or you could, you know, trust your kids.
Another question is: Can I trust your kids? Seeing as we're on the same road and all.
(hands free = no driving problems)
Wrong.

Apparently, it is this one.
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998
There are non-underage children?
Yes. COPPA only applies to those under 13.

It is like Netflix, but with music.
It is like forced Netflix, but with music.
Little addition there.

Extortion rather than bailout.
800 Watts over 5 meters, ...
(May I dream of wireless laptop power? I hate power cords.)
I think I'll pass on that. Don't really want that sort of power aimed directly at the boys.
The hardware in the Series 2 simply can't do the work. Netflix is using a codec that isn't supported there.
Maybe so, but I can 'stream' from the PC to the Series 2, through the same ethernet cable. What would be the major difference?
