At my old job, my boss used AOL for the 3 or so computers at the office. I used to complain all the time because there were limitations using AOL but for my boss there was one BIG bonus...
He traveled a lot with his laptop and at the time I think AOL was the only ISP to have local numbers in major cities all over the world. I don't know if there are any isps that offer this today.
I have to bite...
Organizations like NASA are usually customers of many vendors. Just because they use mysql doesn't mean that they use it for their mission critical apps. I'm pretty sure they use DB2 and Oracle and probably other rdbms's for the more critical applications that run well on the higher-end unix hardware.
In any case, I wonder who Ellison's PR advisors are to stay far away from them. I think this is just another ploy to get free advertisements and press space. Kinda like their "$1 Million guarantee" scam. For his sake, I hope it's working...
That's somewhat true. But remember Yahoo! can append messages to outgoing yahoo mail so that mail you send out will have ads embedded in the message body, (eg. "Do you Yahoo!" and whatnot). So you are still an advertising agent for yahoo POP3 or not.
PPC is what is used in IBM's RS/6000's. I wonder if this an attempt to undercut AIX with a competitive compiler.
Having said that I wonder what IBM is doing along these lines (if anything) for a chip they principly designed and still use in their servers
Well this time around with Loudcloud he chose to be in a battleground with heavyweights like IBM/Compaq/EDS and numerous others in services and consulting.
