I gave away 3 working color tv's last year. Of course poor people have a color TV, a "color tv" is WORTHLESS, unless it's brand new and over 32", hell, I bought a 32" at a yard sale for $5.
In Florida you don't even have to parallel park. Compare with license requirements in Europe, most of which include things like 6 months driving classes and so forth. They damn sure didn't make me do a panic stop or swerve when I got my license. I mean I renewed over the Internet.
keep the last server you retired, have it ready to restore to. If other stuff like routers are important, buy a used one off ebay, test it, keep it on hand. And IBM rocks, man.
I have installed XP on literally thousands of machines and I cannot understand at all you having these problems and then to say LINUX is easier to install? No Possible Way.
Right. I mean you guys spend DAYS tinkering with your darn Linix systems, but can't be bothered to skim through any of the articles Microsoft and a million other people publish, all of which come down to the same stuff:
1) Use a non-administrator account unless absolutely necessary
2) Patch
3) Firewall
4) Stay off porn/warez/etc sites
But that's not leet enuff I guess.
Well, God forbid that any state in America would have a driving exam that covers, oh, I dunno, power stops, hard cornering, useless crap like that - without decent driver training and testing our only hope is this newfangled crap. Frankly I think it was bad to put automatic transmissions and power steering in cars, even synchromesh manual trannys are for wimps, I miss double-clutching!
I was at a car show last weekend, you could buy a totally custom car, new from the ground up, racing chassis, aluminum 350, 4 speed auto, 4 wheel disc brakes, A/C, everything in a replica '32 Ford coupe (I think that was year an model)body - $30k. Air bags were even an option. There are replicas of all the old cool cars available.
Or just drive older cars.
The redistribution programs are exactly what made America the most powerful country on Earth. If you don't like the way Amnerica is run, leave. It would increase the average IQ.
Of course at my office we have ZERO problems because a) we're all patched b) my antivirus is up to date and c) all my users run with only user level permission.
But ah, their home computers that I fix on my off time, they are GOLD!
Nonprofits get XP licenses from techsoup for $8. I think even most nonprofits can afford that. Your users will like it better than any version of linux. Of course, you might have to spend 1/4 of the time you've spent reading various Linux boards and trying to get Linux to work, actually reading the Windows documentation if you want to set it up right.
Farming and construction is all done by illegal immigrants. Manufacturing left the country. Engineering and science jobs are leaving America in hordes.
So the only jobs left for a "regular guy" are suck-ass service jobs, which only serve to emphasize how much more some people have and how little you have. (Cue "Bellboy" by the Who). Maybe you'd like to get some education, but since you're poor, you have proved to the Gummint you don't deserve money for that ( WASHINGTON, July 3 - A new analysis of federal money that public schools receive for low-income students shows that a record number of the nation's school districts will receive less in the coming academic year than they did for the one just ended.)
Can't go on forever.
That McCain was, and still is with the benefit of hindsight, a better choice.
Oh, probably standardization and compatibility with government systems, if the government is going to accept the ID.
XP is no longer secure. It's a 10-year-old os and it sucks. And oh yeah McAfee (and Norton) suck rotten eggs.
There are very few jobs out there. Right now pizza delivery/welding/dope dealing looks pretty good
that I got out of Geology as a career. I mean talk about boring.......
Who told them I can't get it up and I'm underendowed?
I replied to the email....

You obviously live in a big-ass city. 99% of everybody is NOT within a constant wi-fi signal.
at least anyplace I consult for that I make use passwords that change every month and use password complexity
And you'll be fine.
30 million people living in mansions. 270 million people mopping their floors.
Yay! Christmas is coming and I'm making a boatload of money of these poor chumps.

Well, at least it does if you still use 98 or haven't figured out how to run your XP box as a limited user account.
