    In Florida you don't even have to parallel park. Compare with license requirements in Europe, most of which include things like 6 months driving classes and so forth. They damn sure didn't make me do a panic stop or swerve when I got my license. I mean I renewed over the Internet.

    Right. I mean you guys spend DAYS tinkering with your darn Linix systems, but can't be bothered to skim through any of the articles Microsoft and a million other people publish, all of which come down to the same stuff: 1) Use a non-administrator account unless absolutely necessary 2) Patch 3) Firewall 4) Stay off porn/warez/etc sites But that's not leet enuff I guess.

    Well, God forbid that any state in America would have a driving exam that covers, oh, I dunno, power stops, hard cornering, useless crap like that - without decent driver training and testing our only hope is this newfangled crap. Frankly I think it was bad to put automatic transmissions and power steering in cars, even synchromesh manual trannys are for wimps, I miss double-clutching!

    I was at a car show last weekend, you could buy a totally custom car, new from the ground up, racing chassis, aluminum 350, 4 speed auto, 4 wheel disc brakes, A/C, everything in a replica '32 Ford coupe (I think that was year an model)body - $30k. Air bags were even an option. There are replicas of all the old cool cars available. Or just drive older cars.

    Of course at my office we have ZERO problems because a) we're all patched b) my antivirus is up to date and c) all my users run with only user level permission.

    But ah, their home computers that I fix on my off time, they are GOLD!

    Nonprofits get XP licenses from techsoup for $8. I think even most nonprofits can afford that. Your users will like it better than any version of linux. Of course, you might have to spend 1/4 of the time you've spent reading various Linux boards and trying to get Linux to work, actually reading the Windows documentation if you want to set it up right.

    Farming and construction is all done by illegal immigrants. Manufacturing left the country. Engineering and science jobs are leaving America in hordes.

    So the only jobs left for a "regular guy" are suck-ass service jobs, which only serve to emphasize how much more some people have and how little you have. (Cue "Bellboy" by the Who).
