  1. Re:Rooster Teeth on No Online/LAN Co-op for Halo 2 · · Score: 2, Informative

Red Vs Blue was made in vs. mode, not co-op. There shouldn't be any problem using Halo 2 as a platform for new episodes.

  2. Re:really on iTunes For Linux, Thanks To CodeWeavers · · Score: 1

A song I "buy" on iTMS can only be used with a computer running iTunes (Mac, Windows, or now Linux i386 w/Crossover plugin) or an iPod. Nothing else, without violating the terms of use you agree to when "purchasing" the song on iTMS.

Not true. When you purchase a song from iTMS you have to ability to burn that song to a CD (the same playlist on up to seven CDs), thus converting it into an .aiff file which you can do with what you need to at that point. You can backup all you like, convert all you like, play that burned CD in your car or wherever you have a CD player. I'd say the chances are largely in my favor that I'll have my iTMS purchases available to listen to on almost any device that has speakers till the day I die.

I 'own' my iTunes songs to the same extent that you 'own' the songs you buy on CD. You own the CD, but you don't own the music. That little 'C' with the circle around it pretty much says so.

  3. Re:Alaska has cities too on DVD-Watching Driver Charged with Murder · · Score: 1

The thing with Alaskan roads, especially the Seward highway, is that we travel them so often we sometimes take for granted the attention that should be given when driving them. Mostly because much of the Seward is two lane and winding through mountains. Some people drive this road several times a week. Not to mention it's one of the only highways we have. Watching a movie, or doing anything that would distract from the road, is obviously putting your and other lives at risk, but the risk is greater because of the layout of this road.

It's always weird when we get national attention. Too bad it's mostly because of some tragedy or crisis (ANWR).

Oh, and just to clarify, Seward is a very small town, as are most up here (besides Anchorage and maybe Fairbanks...maybe). Their significance is large, but hard to call them 'major cities.'

Actually, according to Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, (C) 1996, "quiet" can be used as a verb, as in "Quiet yourself, child."

  7. package design/art on Buying Boxed Games - Important To The Gaming Experience? · · Score: 1

I think I could handle downloading games instead of purchasing a box from a store... I'd just make my own cases. Or better yet, maybe they could have the price of the game significantly cheaper to download and then give the option to order an official case from the publishers site. Maybe there would be a huge trend in custom case designs by hobbiests, where you could download a .pdf of someones original cover art.

  9. Re:try formac's firewire solution on Review: EyeTV · · Score: 3, Insightful

The only problem with this approach, is that you will need a much, MUCH larger hard drive to record to. The Formac device stores video in DV format, which eats up 1gb for every 4 min. of footage. So, unless you just plan on recording commercials (or you have/plan to buy a large RAID), you will be better off with something that compresses the signal.
