  1. $450 average links on Music 20 Cents a Track in India · · Score: 1
    Sure, here's some links:
    The BBC

Worldbank (Seems slightly out of date)

    The Globalist

    FHS Sponsorship

The average I supposed is really gained depending on how it is worked out (Mean, Median or Modal average perhaps?). From what I understand, many of the tribespeople in India earn at or around $7 a year, while others (as kindly pointed out by another poster who is from India, and I'd trust his word over mine :) ) earn far, far more.

    IANA Economist, however.

Rs = Roupees, current exchange rate is about 1 dollar = 49 Roupees.

Studies vary, but the "average" family income in India works out at about $450 per year.

  3. Bah..... on Best Buy Backs CD Copy Impairment · · Score: 1

Well, so much for buying anything from then again.. Although it used to be fun to go in there and hose the machines. "Turn on the fun" - As long as your fun is firstly approved by the MPAA, the RIAA, and the DMCA. Oh, and Sen. Hollings, natch.

  4. Oh dear... on Blade Director to Adapt 'Akira' For Western Audiences · · Score: 1

Why mess with it? At all? I don't think that all of Norrington's work is too bad (there are some real stinkers in there though).

    But why mess with Akira?

  5. Re:Amiga Power on L.A. Times on Game Reviewer 'Playola' · · Score: 2, Interesting

Amiga Power was excellent, simply excellent. Unfortunately, they sufered because of their honesty.. when they didn't rush round the latest media darlings (Team 17, at the time) and give glowing reviews like every other mag out there at the time to every single Team 17 game - Team 17 flatly stopped sending them material to review.

There was another comapny fuss with them as well... Don't remembe the name of the company but the game was called "Valhalla" Top down game thats main points were that it was coded from scratch in a week and that the main character talked at everything he did - AP gave it 18% while every other mag gave it in the 90's.

And AP were right, the game did suck.

Amiga Power WAS funny though - remember Isabelle Rees? The Matt Bielby golden era? Cam Winstanley's cries of "Hoora!! Tankie Tankie!!" (and his breakfast sandwich recipie)? Stuarts hair?

    Thems were the days.

  6. Bout time.... on Farscape Returns Tonight · · Score: 2, Insightful

Farscape started off kinda cheesy (the whole Buck Rodgers thing), but over time its really blossomed into a good show. I've been waiting for the new series for a while too. The only thing I can't understand is why Scorpius has to wear a bloody jockstrap on his head.. ;)

  7. Re:Same in UK on FCC Pushes Digital TV and Digital Restrictions · · Score: 1

Thanks to all for the clarification. I appreciate it. Now I think about it, I seem to remember that there were some cases in the early 90's where this was being put through the legal wringer.

To the AC with the Philips CM monitor - I had one of those too. It blew up shortly before I emigrated.... :(

  8. Re:Same in UK on FCC Pushes Digital TV and Digital Restrictions · · Score: 1

Yes, it is. Theres a set date for all TV's to be converted to digital over there too. After that point, if you don't pay the TV license fee, I wouldn't be surprised if they could just flip a switch and turn your signal off. For the non-UK Readers, the TV License is a vastly outdated Tax where you have to cough up £100 ($150) per year to own a TV in your abode. ALL the money goes directly to the BBC, even if you never watch the BBC, you still have to pay this Tax and receive a big fine (or even jail for repeat offenders) if you get caught with a TV in the house. Even if you were to only use it to watch movies on your DVD player or hook it up to your PS2. Grumble.

  9. Re:I don't get it.... on EchoStar Asks Supreme Court to Let Unlock Local Channels · · Score: 2, Insightful

And this is the same reason why a vast majority of radio streams from local stations now either go dead when they're playing local commercials or switch over (in the case of radio.yahoo.com and others) to a special "internet advertising" stream. Which normally consists of the same two lame commercials being played over and over until music/discussion begins again. Its crazy. And highly irritating.
