  1. Advertise to those gamers! on McDonald's UK CEO Blames Video Games for Childhood Obesity · · Score: 1

A few months ago I downloaded Prince of Persia: Sands of Time from some game site. It was some trial that Ubisoft was doing where they were putting advertisements into games. Interestingly enough, the only advertisement I ever saw was for McDonalds.

  2. Re:No on Converting Desktops to Thin Clients? · · Score: 3, Interesting

I'm going to call shenanigans on this.

I'm employed by a company that has approximately 5000 users. A few years ago, we had about 80% Desktops and 20% thin clients. These days, we're about 20% Desktops and 80% thin clients, and both the Technicians and our users couldn't be happier.

The difference between a Citrix implementation failing, and working successfully is knowing the technology that you're working with. You can't have an application thats going to go rouge and take down your server with 50 users on it -- and that is where most implementations fail. Every application can not be made to work in a thin environment.

Looking back, I can't imagine supporting all those users on Desktops. We have a 40 server citrix farm and 5 techs to support both the users and the servers. A good implementation goes a LONG way!

  3. Bundle is up on EB/Gamestop Offering $700 Wii Bundle · · Score: 1

    Link to the bundle

I'll do a breakdown of costs, from their site as well:
    Nintendo Wii Console: $250
    Wii SD 1GB Card: $59.99
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess:$49.99 (couldn't find it on site, but seems to be the common price)
    Trauma Center: Second Opinion: $49.99
    Red Steel: $49.99
    Marvel Ultimate Alliance: $49.99
Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz: $49.99
    Madden NFL 2007: $49.99
12 Month Product Replacement Plan: Unknown
    Game Informer Gift Subscription: Unknown

    All adds up to: 609.93

So, it's $100 for the replacement plan and the stupid magazine? Or am I missing something?

  4. Yes, they are worth it. on Diamonds - Are They Really Worth the Cost? · · Score: 1

When I asked my woman to marry me, I originaly gave her a locket. It had a picture of me, a picture of her, and two empty spots for pictures of our future children.

She loved it. But, about 3 months of trying to explain what an engagement locket was wore her down. She would look at everyone elses diamond engagement ring with envy.

I eventually broke down and bought her a diamond ring. I realize now that I should have done that from the start. I'm very glad that I did, and I would definately say that it was worth the money.

  5. Re:Why PG-13? on Review: Spiderman · · Score: 1

It may be for the fighting and unrealistic situations, such as fighting high up in the air.

As long as your kid knows the difference between reality and fantasy, I doubt they'd have a problem with it.
