    "are the few sane remaining Amiga fanatics" - well I happen to be one of the sane non-Video Toaster Amiga fanatics. As to using a PC (spit,spit) for some of the work - why not just upgrade to a 68040/68060 or PPC instead?

    The different color coded states of emergency are reflected in your face - going from normal sysadmin pasty white to even whiter when you realise it's crashed - then purple when you realise you've got no backtrace - and therefore no hope of fixing the problem.

    I think sorting out backtraces on FreeBSD are one of those things that with hindsight are a good idea - but at the time seemed like too much bother. For instance how many people regularly back up their hard drives? It's just good practice - but most users can't be bothered to do it.

    or maybe the ghosts are just the sounds of "assorted rodents, and a multitude of fish" - would've thought those were enough to make someone think any house was haunted! Makes me think of the Grim Reaper of Rats from the Terry Pratchett Discworld novels.

    Or to save you the expense of a new monitor - there are various programs that magnify a bit of the screen for you - if you're running Windows check out the acessibility options in Control Panel.

    My personal opinion is that enough has been said - and we should move on - talking about how the Twin Towers collapsed isn't going to bring them back - and dwelling on the past too much is bad as well - it was over six months ago and if Americans should move on - it was a terrible tragedy yes - but enough's been said about it already.

    Another question to ask is - where are all the new numbers going to come from for these disposable mobiles? People are going to want to receive calls as well as send them.

    Yes - but there's always going to be differences in prices in the marketplace because the quality of services (as shown above) varies.

    Yes - but wouldn't the overall quality of your rather excellent service be diminished if customers were allowed to resell bandwidth? It would lead to them getting the same revenue for more bandwidth usage - so they'd have to either cut back somewhere - or increase the prices their customer pays.

    I thought trademarks (at least in the U.K.) were only applicable to a particular market - ie you could call your company Windows if it cleaned windows - but if it made computer operating systems it would be a trademark infringement with Microsoft.

    a) buy the company

    Yes but at the moment the entire advertising industry is in crisis - so they're probably desperate for the column inches (which work out cheaper than any other form of adverts).
