    The banking system is NOT dependent on influx of new investors to pay their creditors

    When house prices reach astronomical numbers (and no newcomers can afford to get into the market because of this) doesn't the whole thing fall apart/dry up? Then again, I'm a late Boomer and just pissed-off that I didn't get in on the game early enough so I could have a couple Mercedes based on the "value" of my house. Just for the record, when I see an expensive car I don't automatically think, "Asshole undeserving jerkoff rich bastard".

    one of his main messages was "Fail fast", in other words try a lot of ideas and see which ones work and which don't quickly.

    But this takes dedicated, brutally honest, cooperative, expert engineering professionals with fast-and-loose budgets willing to fail often, make notes and then move on. Where do I sign up?

    why should anyone expect to have a lifelong job if their job becomes obsolete?

    When I'm done with my current role (automating stuff) I will have made myself obsolete along with a few dozen other existing jobs. Where do I and those people go after I'm finished?

    Perhaps now that computers are so relatively cheap, companies can provide TWO machines to each user - one for only outside email, etc. and one for "real" work. Crap, that wouldn't work, I can already see the holes in my idea.

    A few weeks ago a work colleague was trying to download a patch/hotfix from Autodesk with a newly-installed computer. Every time he clicked the 'download' link, there was a popup claiming that this file was no longer free, and "please enter credit card data" to get the file.

    Autodesk hotfixes don't work that way, and he couldn't figure out what was wrong.

    Accidentally noticing his predicament, I advised him that that machine had spyware -DO NOT TOUCH MORE- and grabbed the file from a secure computer. Question is, how many people get scammed by this despicable appropriation of others' computers and how many think this is "normal" or refuse to admit they've been "taken"?

    As for Foundation, it's not really a novel. It's a series of short stories and I don't know how it can be adapted to a movie, since the cast of characters is constantly changing

    But that's perfect for modern-day attention spans and shakey-cam technology! They could hire those actor wannabees from the approximately 17, 673 reality TV shows where people are stranded on an island/looking for something/smelling ghost poop/dissing each other/sucking up to CEOs with bad hair/backstabbing the other guy/faking love interest, etc.

    Actually, it appears that Greenpeace is a political organization that plays on people's guilt in order to gain funding. Cute, furry animals that die at the hands of evil humans (whether for food or the neglect of the irresponsible west) obviously deserve more attention than ugly, bothersome ones.

    Their histrionics, hypocracy and irrationality sank them a long time ago, but you'll find the occasional brain-dead celebrity supporting their efforts.

    This gives a slight stuttering effect, which is more pronounced during slow sideways panning shots.

    I always thought this was due to VRAM filling delays from the source, but I'm no expert on video.
