  1. Stress and increase of data on Correlation Between Stress and Technology? · · Score: 1

I remember perusing through a book called "Data Smog." It pertained that because the InterWeb has lowered the cost of information that we are in an "information glut," that of which more time is required to search for information, and has actually increased the cost of finding true data. One example of this would be looking through /. replies and weeding out the trolls, offtopic, etc.

The "information glut" due to an increase in tech may have contributed to this stress, and all that crap.

    I never read the book.

Okay kids, here's the thing. We can all sit on /. and bitch and moan all we like but if we aren't doing anything about it, it's like... uh... pissing in the wind.

Can you even fathom what a political power the members of /. could be if everyone got out and just voted?

Don't like what you see? Don't talk, do.

Wan't a coup? Fine. Let's have one in November.

Sorry if I'm coming a bit late on this... prolly not many people will take the time to read this.

I've read through all the discussions and seen the same recurring arguments.

Is there a possibility for "selective jamming?"

For example, your "jammer" is on default in the off mode. When someone's cell phone rings in the movie/restaurant/etc. and it's not urgent (which is determined by one's subjective genius), flip on the jammer and let them leave your area.

    Otherwise, turn it off.

    Just a thought.

  5. Re:Uh oh... on Cyclic Universe a Possibility · · Score: 2, Insightful

Reply to Hallow: There is a slight problem in your logic. If God created the universe, then he is not constrained by it. Since God made the universe, then He controls it, not the other way around. Your break in logic was not assuming that God coincided with the universe--outside of it. Judeo/Christian theology states that God created the Heavens and the Earth... which is the Universe. Since He created it, he encompasses it... omnipresent, by definition. But He is not constrained by the Universe, because He exists outside of the Universe whilst inside of it, watching over us. I'd highly recommend The Bible to anyone who wants to know more.

  6. Something to Consider ... God and Big Bang on Cyclic Universe a Possibility · · Score: 0, Troll

One thing to consider in the religious sense when addressing this topic is the idea of time. Of course, human ideas of time have always been flawed, which causes leap years and such. But remember, since God was here before the Universe was created, the rules that apply to the Universe do not necessarily apply to God. For example, since God was here before time, time does not restrain God. So, when one is looking at the Universe from an orgin, one must not keep the perspective of time linear. Time does not necessarily have to go one way. It can spread out in different directions, or it can ebb like a tide. So, when addressing creation, the beginning might coincide with the end. Hard to understand, but something to consider before you go to sleep at night.

  7. LAN Parties redone... on Intel Shows Off 'Banias' Chip for Mobile Devices · · Score: 1

Perhaps all those countless hours of interfacing one's computer to a network can all be replaced by the Banana and other technological advances. The largest hinderance that holds people back with bringing laptops to LAN parties is the performance. Along with the introduction of the Raedon Mobile into the laptop community, chips like these configured strictly for mobility purposes will perhaps change the way LAN parties and the such are done. Bravo!
