    My wife has that phone. I really like it. I always bought Samsung before but the lack of a removable battery moved me to LG.

    You are right. But 95% of the people never used anything as nice as what you are talking about. The average cell phone camera is in fact better than anything I've ever used in my life. It takes pretty good photos. If I was a photographer, even an amateur one, then yes, I'd buy a camera. Frankly, I wouldn't know how to use it properly and I'm not willing to spend the time to learn. I just want to point and shoot.

    What bullshit. The never ending car snobbery on /. is ridiculous. I've driven the Chevy Impala and Chrysler 300 multiple times from rental agencies over the last couple of years. Both cars were excellent. The only problem with the 300 is that the luggage area is tiny for a supposed "large" car. I drove the Toyota Camry several times also and I'd say the Impala was at least equivalent.

    I doubt anyone cares about them flying drones over their own land. Except for the eagles anyway. Yes, some kind of recovery system makes sense but really, they managed to raise cattle and mine before anyone invented drones.

    Bald eagles have gotten so numerous and are so aggressive that they are considering taking it off the protected list in the USA. Homer, Alaska is over run with them.

    The birds are more important to most people than your drone is. To the majority of people, there is no problem.

    My chickens eat habanero peppers like my grand kids eat chocolate candy. If you hit them in the eye it might bother them, otherwise I think nothing.

  18. It's plenty secure. Most of the people I know that get hit are the ones using an Android phone of all things. Hackers are lazy too and they tend to hit the low hanging fruit.

  20. It's gotten to the point I do banking on a distro I run off a thumb drive on my laptop. It's designed for security from the ground up and that is the only thing I use it for. As to surfing the web and everything else I don't worry too much and just use the standard Ubuntu on the hard drive.

    I had Boost phones for a few years. I was very happy then Sprint bought it. About 7 months after buying it they "upgraded" the towers. My phone ceased working where I lived. I called them and they suggested I switch to a CDMA phone. I did, but no joy although that one worked in some places. Now I'm on AT&T and was thinking of moving to T-Mobile. So glad I haven't switched yet. Nix on that.

    AGW is truly complicated. I have no doubt that things are changing and as a result there will be many challenges in the future. I'm also pretty sure these experts are making wild guesses based on a lot of assumptions that may not be true. Models change continuously and they're all over the place. This kind of "the sky is falling" stuff is exactly why people are so skeptical. People may not know the science but they know these people don't really know anything for certain.

    There's no law against being incompetent. There are laws against using info no one but a few have access to so you can reap vulgar amounts of money off of your incompetence.

  24. My wife's phone got destroyed. I pulled the 128GB micro SD card and popped it in her new phone. Instant and painless. Sure she could have backed it up but the two phones before somehow she lost most of her stuff when they choked. This time she was happy.

    Decent wireless headphones are expensive. Everything I've tried under 200 dollars is pure shit for music. A 10 dollar set of wired earphones is better and if I lose them I wont cry about it. If you've got money to throw away then sure, go wireless.
