I don't live anywhere near the coast but we had a flood in 1994 here that exactly matched the 100 year flood plain drawn up by the Army Corp of Engineers. I mean, exactly. Everywhere it stated 100 year flood plain was under water.

The IPCC has stated that sea level rise this century will likely be in the neighborhood of 2.6 feet or less but that extreme conditions could cause as much as a 6.5 foot rise in sea levels over the next hundred years. Maybe you are referring to Al Gore's propaganda where he stated a bunch of US cities could soon be underwater in the near future. You must remember Al Gore is a politician and as such, if his lips move, he's lying.

What? No beautiful women in marketing? They don't have to be engineers to talk about a product. Hell, engineers suck at talking about products to anyone other than engineers. I bet if I had a product to market to a bunch of male CTO and CEOs I could find some attractive, professional female marketers to sell my product. I'd throw in a couple of guys just to keep it from being way too blatant and for the ones that are frightened by intelligent women.

I got the point but....men are men and most men are turned on by women. I've worked with beautiful or even just not ugly women and I was never once unaware that they were women. I treated them with respect and acted professional but often it took some real self control. People selling or promoting things are aware of this fact and will take advantage of it. Some men have less self control and their brain will almost totally shut down which does make this practice worthwhile.

But it is. Tanks travel faster and with less breakage on a road. They are capable of cross country travel but wear and tear goes up greatly the longer they travel over hill and dale. Roads and bridges make lightning war a possibility. Plus the ammo carriers and fuel trucks and other logistical equipment needs those roads. Modern warfare is all about logistics.

We involved ourselves in the conflict between China and Japan. Two countries that had been at war many times over history. All in all I feel it was the best move for US interests but I can see Japan's view. They were at war and we were trying to hold them back. Countries do what is in their interests. There is no real right or wrong there is only survival. If we can cooperate and all survive that is great. If not, we have to survive. Japan miscalculated and the Japanese government and a lot of it's people did not survive. The US did. Personally as a citizen of the US I'm okay with that. I know if things had turned out the other way the world would be far different. Most likely even worse than the fucked up mess it is today.

Even Hitler wasn't crazy enough to use gas in WWII. It's only effective against unprotected civilian populations and often causes more trouble than it's worth. Why hold onto a weapon that's useless against real troops and only brings the world down on your head when you deploy it?

Yes the Saudis have oil and they are our friends. It's as good a reason as any to put up with some grisliness. The world runs on the golden rule, those with the gold rule. Gold is black nowadays.
