I don't know. Watching Microsoft's blatant attack on open standards was really informative of how nothing there has changed other than they do attempt to stay under the radar when they can. If you don't understand how we have a problem with this Corporation trying to destroy open standards I can only describe you as a rabid MS-shill.
People can't get past MS's sins because MS never really changed. They still bend the rules until they're warped and often just snap. They are still they same company in many ways.
That is almost entirely a benefit of much lower natural gas prices. I might add that environmentalists are currently screaming about new methods of obtaining those products which have enabled the sudden increase in cheap natural gas supply.
And that is my point. If you're not going to take drastic, sacrificial action it's a waste of money. There is no mass support for the kinds of sacrifices necessary. Gradual improvement will continue because it is cost effective and gradual worsening of the climate will continue. Hopefully it will balance out down the road in a century or so. If not, well that bridge will have to be crossed then.
If it makes you feel better, or not, I didn't post AC comment above. I've been following the Global Warming thing for a few decades and there are always some hysterical comments coming from the proponents of warming theory. In fact I agree that things are warming, hell it's undeniable, facts are facts. A lot of what I hear not so much from the scientific side but the political proponents of warming theory is wacky just like the political conservative anti-warming people put out. To be fair most actual scientists, with some exceptions, are reasonable in their warnings. Just lately John Kerry called Global Warming a "weapon of mass destruction." He is an idiot though and not a scientist. There have been papers though that warned of "tipping points" and these kinds of things are designed to terrorize people into action but they also develop a backlash and actually do more harm than good to the arguments of people that use them. I'm all for reasonable action to reduce harm done to the environment but not the craziness coming from the John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi camp.
What Americans? Oh! You mean the lawyers working for the Indonesians! I don't think they're actually after the lawyers, they want info on the Indonesians. You know the privilege is for the client don't you. You do know they'll never use this info in court. I ask again, what do you think is the reason we have spy agencies? Why do they call them spies? What do spies do? ????
I'm all for Solar power, in fact I've often wondered why every Federal building in the US isn't covered with them. I like the idea of clean power, moving away from coal and nukes. The problem is programs like "cap and trade" designed to punish companies that are productive thus destroying industry and jobs. Crazy programs like that are what conservatives oppose. By all means lets build some damn solar power stations!
Actually the major push is for taxes to "punish" people for "bad" behavior. I've heard that we will have windmills and solar panels to fix all the problems but that money just keeps flushing down a hole that never fills up. I'm all for fixing problems with the environment, even a dog knows better than to shit where he eats. All the craziness coming from D.C. though seems to be let's kill the patient to cure him.
I'm sorry, I thought it was something about an American Law Firm and communications between it and their Indonesian clients. Did I get it wrong? This has what exactly to do with a war on Americans?
It doesn't really matter how much better we get at not polluting, it's a political thing and to the left we will always be the evil polluters. Hell, now that we are dropping pollution levels it's our purchase of Chinese products that causes all the pollution in China according to the leftist media.
They need government money to be profitable. Lots of companies like that in a lot of industries. Corporate welfare. Didn't President Obama promise to do something about corporate welfare? I guess I misunderstood what he meant to do.
I remember climate experts shouting back in the last millennium that if we didn't do radical change by 2000 it'd be too late to make a difference. Why does that target date keep moving?
Kind of like spitting in the ocean. Add about 7 or 8 trillion if you want to do anything about it otherwise you're just pissing money away. Think of the trillions of dollars worth of carbon fuel burned every year. What are you going to replace it with that costs a billion dollars? Fucking silly.
Come on, really? He's screaming that there is a war on American citizens and the system is broken which is a ridiculous assumption. Just the fact that he's allowed to scream that crazy shit without his door being busted down says he's a fool. In fact, if he really believed it he'd never open his mouth out of fear of repercussions.
And you have a figure for the harm to our society by spying on overseas communications? I'm not talking about the spying on journalists in the US which is illegal but about this particular incident here and others like it. This is what spy agencies do. If they aren't doing this then there is no point to having them at all. You may as well close up shop.
And of course this is open to interpretation. Spying on overseas communications is generally not interpreted to be a violation of the 4th amendment. You can disagree but SCOTUS is the ultimate decider here. Besides, they can spy to their hearts content and the worst that would happen if they were found to be in violation is that they would not be allowed to use any information gathered in this manner in court.
Who said I needed it. Like most things I own it was just a want. It's fun to shoot, I like to target practice and you never know what the future may bring. Guns are kind of like insurance, you hope you never need it but if you do you better have it.
What the fuck is wrong with you? It's a system. This system has been in place for decades. J. Edgar Hoover did shit that makes these guys look like liberal pussies when he was running the FBI. Killing one person or even hundreds wouldn't change the system. Hell, they think they're doing the right thing and I'd say most of the public probably thinks so too.

He was talking about Microsoft. If you read the post it's pretty obvious.
People can't get past MS's sins because MS never really changed. They still bend the rules until they're warped and often just snap. They are still they same company in many ways.
Steve did have a shred of human decency.

GDP for 2010 was around 15 trillion. There's plenty of money, all you have to do is tax it out of everyone. Either that or just crank up the presses.
What Americans? Oh! You mean the lawyers working for the Indonesians! I don't think they're actually after the lawyers, they want info on the Indonesians. I think the problem is the push for "cap and trade." That should just about finish off US productivity. Problem solved.
If they were fit to eat they wouldn't be a problem.

The system is not broken Chicken Little. It has problems but they are solvable. And I would argue that the system has kept us safer than not.
