I use a Samsung Media Player 5 for an ebook reader with FBreader. It works well and it fits my pocket better. I need the 5" screen as that size seems to be perfect, big enough but not too big. Actually almost exact same page size as a paperback book without the margins. If I can't carry it in my pocket it is no good to me. I do like the kindle's e-ink display better though.

The stuff not covered by the Constitution is under the control of the States and the people through their elected representatives.

I actually watched that speech. It seemed like the President was pissed off about something or other that failed to pass. I was glad to see that my congressman actually listened to me and the others in his district instead of President Obama. I don't know if the President is aware of it or not but these congressmen have to run for office every once in a while and if they piss off the people in their district they don't get to keep that nice cushy job. I saw where one of his fellow Democrats in Congress was giving one of the President's staff hell the other day in a meeting about how badly the Obamacare thing is going. He expressed to her his displeasure and anger about their ineptitude in getting the program going. Upon further reading I discovered that this guy was a key player in helping get Obamacare passed and it seems his constituents remember this and are just now becoming aware of all those things that Nancy (we have to pass it to know what's in it) Pelosi was talking about. Now that they find they bought a bottle of snake oil they seem to be on track to rid themselves of this guy and he's feeling a little panicky. If only more people understood the repercussions of these attempts to give Corporations this kind of power over our data then Congress would fear to tread here as well.

The reason that the Republicans rule the House is simple. When Pelosi and her cronies ruled they stunk it up so much anything at all seemed better. The way the Democrats ran amuck with control of both Houses of Congress and the Presidency ignored one simple political reality, that elections come every 2 years. For 2 years they acted like it was all about them ignoring and ridiculing an electorate that still leans slightly to the right overall. I can't believe the ignorant fuckers didn't see the backlash coming. If the Republicans could ever pull their heads out of their asses for a minute or two the Senate would fall too. I don't see them doing it though. Maybe they'll get some glass belly buttons though, at least then they can see where they're going.

I think they that since they don't understand the internet they make break it and are afraid of doing so. I think they are actually wise to limit any changes until they are fully understood. The main drive to change things are the content creators who think that every pirated song or movie is a lost sale. They have a lot of influence but I think even they are somewhat unsure of just what to do, at least I think they lack a consensus on the matter. The internet just kind of happened for the most part without a lot of governmental guidance and it is a wonderful but dangerous creation.

I don't know but I believe that eventually the UI, once it fits your needs, is done. Why change what works? Linux could certainly use more work but mostly under the hood. This madness with Unity I never have understood, it seems like Canonical decided to merge the desktop and tablet together and I can't deal with the mess. Maybe when they finish it but probably not even then. You know, at some point things are good enough but these companies still need to sell you something so now they are trying to creat a demand where there is no need.

It guarantees me plenty of overtime whether I want it or not and my paycheck comes on a regular basis. I do the right thing and tell them why things aren't working right but they seem unconcerned. They immediately installed Vista when it came out thus effectively crippling our computers that we need to get our jobs done. Then when windows 7, the bugfix for the beta named Vista came out they stuck with Vista for 2 more years until finally we got new computers that run Windows 7. I'm cringing at the rumor I heard that they are about to downgrade to windows 8 soon. After working here for 24 years I am no longer surprised by stupidity but expect it and frankly shocked when they actually do something halfway intelligent. There are no repercussion for all these idiotic decisions, we simply work harder to make up for it. I look back at all the thousands of hours of overtime I've worked here and realize that if it were not for incompetent management I'd have missed out on all that money.
