I see that laptops are becoming throwaway devices like tablets and phones. I can't pay that much for a throwaway item. If they can't profit off a 1500 dollar computer they sell for 2500 then I have to wonder what's going on. The dollar they save is that critical? They just don't want you using the thing for more than 5 years. They see too many people still using 10 year or older Macs and want to make sure that stops.
You know most people don't hook up an external drive. Yes it's dead easy but even I don't do it for all my systems. I have my main Macbook Pro I use for video and photo work that is hooked to a backup drive most of the time but everything else is hit or miss.
I mostly use Macs for video and photo programs. Linux works pretty good for everything else. My wife used windows at work for years from 3.1 to windows XP. She started using one of my Macs and after she retired she hasn't touched windows and doesn't want to learn linux and I like for her to be happy.:)

If he goes too off the rails there are all kinds of ways to haul him back down to earth. He's supposedly going to take a pen to Obama's executive order laundry list and wipe it out. The fact that so many Republicans approved of it repudiates any belief in conservative values. Modern Republicans are for more government control over citizens lives. That's why Trump went through them like shit through a goose. They're fake and everyone knows it. Fuck them.
Trump truly is horrible I agree. The Democrats went to a large amount of trouble to pick a candidate that could lose to him. Trump had one major advantage in this election. He's not Hilliary Clinton. That, and only that, got him elected. If the Dems had run pretty much anyone else with the possible exception of Pelosi (who is not corrupt, just bat shit crazy) they most likely would have won in a HUGE landslide. Sadly they made up their mind 2 years or more ago that they were going to run Hilliary. I'd bet, even after 4 insane years of Trump as president he could still beat her again in 2020.
It's true that carriers make nice targets but they also have a huge offensive punch. One carrier battlegroup has enough firepower to destroy just about any country on the planet.
The White House will be the site of the new Apprentice reality show starring President Trump. I expect a lot of firing and hiring. It should be interesting.
I can understand why someone would detest Trump. Hating on people for voting for him is another matter. When you're faced with the choices in the 2016 election there were no good choices. People ended up voting on what they hoped would work best for them. I knew when the election cycle started that I wasn't voting for Hilliary so when it began looking like Trump was going to blow away the Republican field I started praying for Bernie to win the Democratic side. That didn't happen so all I had was Trump. I don't give a shit how butthurt all the liberals are over it. They nominated a person who had all the negatives of a Liberal with absolutely none of the positives. Hopefully they'll evaluate how they got where they are and think about changing.
I've never bought a computer that I didn't upgrade. I've maxed Ram and HD on countless ones. I had an iBook G4 that I opened 3 times to upgrade stuff and it was torture to open that case. The HD though is a serious matter. I've had one computer logic board die on me with a hard drive full of stuff. A lot of it not backed up so I just pulled the HD and installed it in an external case. No problem. If you buy one of these new models you'd better be religious about backing up the system.
They generally last a long time with some exceptions. They've made the occasional model that had something or other that died unexpectedly and often. Given the silly prices they charge I highly recommend an applecare purchase. The oldest mac I have in use at the moment is my wife's late 2008 macbook. I upgraded the hard drive to an SSD and the memory to 8GB. I just bought a perfect condition 2012 15" Macbook Pro to replace my 2011 13" Macbook Pro. I got a good deal on the 2012 as the 2011 works fine. Nice upgrade to i7 and Nvidia graphics it's really a great computer. Too bad they decided to quit making nice stuff. I'm not buying a computer I can't change the HD and Ram on. The funny thing is the computer I use for almost all online stuff is an old Dell E6500 with a core2duo 2.8ghz and 4GB of ram and Nvidia graphics that runs Peppermint Linux 7. What we heard about Clinton was that she had classified material on a private server, knew some of it was classified, should have know more of it was, mixed private business with state department business, deleted e-mails that were supposed to be turned over and had people with no security classification handling the server and classified e-mails. It's fact, the video where this was reported to Congress has been rerun endlessly. The reason they didn't indict was "She never intended to break the law." Try that defense sometime when you get busted. Let me know how that works out for ya. There was more stuff dealing with the charity that isn't a charity but that's actually yet to be investigated fully. Given that she's apparently above the law though I imagine they'll say she broke the law there but she didn't mean to. Bernie was honest at least. I'm always amazed at some of the crazy stuff I see circulating on social media. I look at it and wonder how people can be so naive as to believe this bullshit. It happens on network news as well. I once saw a woman talking about how the number of children's deaths from handguns had doubled every year since 1960. This was in like 1994 or so. Obvious bullshit to anyone who has ever done a little simple arithmetic but the news anchor just blandly accepted it as fact. Amazing how stupid people are.
I don't get the people saying Trump won the popular vote. He narrowly won quite a few states, some very narrowly while HRC won 2 to 1 in several of the very liberal states such as New York and California. These states are very heavily populated and she won big there. The electoral college worked just as it was designed, to curb the impact larger populated states have on the election. All those flyover states have an impact too.
