I think that the government is more worried about the 300 plus million citizens of the country versus a few hundred idiot terrorists. One day down the road, probably a decade or less away there will come a time when the US government will be bankrupt. This is not a European society but a very large country with a very diverse population and a history of handling problems with violence. The more extreme the problem the more extreme the violence. Imagine a day when the government can no longer write the checks. That all the people on welfare, social security, food stamps and even federal retirements such as military and civilian workforce retirees currently receive. Can you imagine the response from all those millions of people when they're told that there is no money? Or they start printing money so that it takes 3,000 dollars to buy a hamburger? Yeah, they got reason to be afraid because that day is coming.
So sadly true. People don't even expect their leaders to be honest or have any integrity anymore. But really, are the people any different? I think that it's a representative government. The lack of integrity in the public is reflected in their leaders.
The NSA performs a vital function. The problem is that they are supposed to have congressional oversight to keep them under control. Congress has failed miserably to do it's job in this as well as pretty much everything else they are supposed to be doing.
The reason is that they don't concentrate their resources. They spy on everyone. Instead of concentrating on real threats they consider everyone a threat. Trying to find a terrorist out of a 100,000 suspects is one thing. Picking a terrorist out of 7.3 billion people is an entirely different thing. It's simple, they are incompetent. He should be fired with no pension.
My wife's grandmother received a heart valve from a pig that helped her live another 20 years. I guess that animal model translated well enough. I guess all those research facilities just decided to waste millions of dollars using animals for testing just for the sheer joy of it? Not to make money like evil capitalists always do?
I doubt their neighbors will but then that wasn't who PETA is trying to prod into action is it? PETA knows that it has a following of extremists who think their views are more important than the majority and that breaking laws can be justified by the purity of their cause. Posting of physical addresses in that manner is meant as a threat no matter who does it. If you think that kind of action in any way advances the cause that PETA espouses then you are a fool.
This isn't a crime like jaywalking or littering. It's an activity that possibly puts people and their families at risk. Just because you feel animals have equivalent rights to people doesn't make it so. To attempt to terrorize people who are simply performing a legal job because you have some extreme view of animal rights is not acceptable. This is why PETA will never be effective. Their actions discredit their message.
