I've long known about adblock and other similar filters but haven't cared much (generally I just ignore all advertisements) but haven't kept them installed long term. Upon seeing this article I realized I'm not doing as much as I could be doing -- adblock plus is now installed and it will stay installed.
Maybe if advertisers had worked harder to limit the use of blink, audio, heavy formats like flash and java, or just that advertisements bog down page loads we wouldn't be so at war with them (maybe more text based like google, which is acceptably non-intrusive). I don't want to punch the monkey, eff free ipods, and I don't think supermodels lounging in swimwear is a realistic portrayal of online dating.
All I can say is, don't rely on any keynote reports. It is purely a pointy-clickey graphy output for managerial types to analyze stuff whether or not the underlying data is accurate. I have nothing more than contempt for keynote studies. More than once they proved that their tests were faulty (different OS's, hardware etc used in a test where people are to assume that everything is the same). If you are a non-technical manager or exec within a company feel free to argue at length, but if you are an engineer you will hate these fucks for undermining the technical realities.
I recently noticed that Epox is shipping their 8KHM microatx k5266a based mobo. Average price is 80$ with sound onboard. A little more if you want the crummy onboard video.
Get this board, a midrange athlon xp (newest ones may not be supported yet), ddr ram, and twink out the system the way you like it.
With the ati all in wonder 8500 out this makes an awesome tv box, nice an compact, without being very expensive. Think I paid about 800$ for the whole system including monitor + shipping + tax.
