Maby we chose a bad name, but as security robots go it was wicked! :) The sentinel page was http://andre.bonin.ca/projects.html If anyone likes it, all members are looking for work in security right now :)

At Lakehead University (Software Engineering) we toyed around with doing a similar thing as a degree project. A certain professor there said he also played around with something similar (reprogrammabled FPGA's), but found they become very unstable after many iterations. It could be done but the big draw back is the way verilog/vhdl writes loops. Sure it can optimize some operations, but if a true loop atomic instruction could be devised on-the-fly it would go a long way (maby using NeuralNetworks to find optimal circuits). Its ok though since we ended up doing a port security robot that scanned containers and could be a silent alarm sentry, also it plugged into a national datamining investigation system :)

It sounds almost exactly like my story. It's almost scary.

Cold-calling, i heard later from an actual marketting expert, said it is the most waste of time from a marketting prospective. Think about it. Someone calls you, bothers you, pitches a product of a company you never heard of... Are they desperate? (processing for 1picosecond) yes! I won't do business with a folding company. The end.

There are better ways to do marketting, and if you'r at the point cold-calling is your only avenue left, bail with a parachute before the plane hits the ground.

Thats what i learnt. Went back to university 'cause i knew the company was going down, 8 months later the company folded (2weeks before x-mas). At least i got to do something for that summer and the starting school year, instead of waiting until the next september.

    Food for thought.

Yeah! That's 1 242.74238 miles or a whole 9941.93908 furlongs for those of you still using a tribal measurement system :)

(*Comon guys its just a joke. *)
