  1. Re:EPIC on Google Keyhole, Google Scholar · · Score: 1

There are a bunch of people starting to try to do this. I run blabble.com, an nlp search engine that attempts to aggregate and categorize blog posts, but it could be run for news sites as well. We break content into parts of speech and it allows us to categorize intended thoughts. Im sure in the years to come it will be very possible to do what the poster decribes.

  2. Old Technology on Microsoft Plans News Aggregator · · Score: 1

Are people really still interested in news aggregators ? It seems the technology has been around for 5 years are so, I mean seriously. I'm much more interested in seeing people parse opinions from news sites like http://www.blabble.com will soon do. Showing me what hundreds of people wrote about are of little use to me

  3. fat sweaty lady on Easter Eggs in Web Sites? · · Score: 1

About 1 1/2 years ago I was working on a system to produce multimedia proposals. Being extremely bored one day, we made this little easter egg where if you held down cntl and pressed the down arrow on a certain spot on a Flash help system, a big fat sweaty lady would fly across the screen and "Moo" at you. It was pretty sweet. Unfortunately the project is still in development so i can't show it to you guys. It was originally supposed to take 6 weeks but is approaching year 2 in development. Oops

  4. Ad-supported rarely works on Would an Ad-Sponsored OS/Desktop Work for OSS? · · Score: 1

Ad-supported ANYTHING rarely works. Take a quick look at allAdvantage, or netZERO, or FreePC. When it comes down to it, Advertisers are simply not going to pay to advertise to people who are so desperate for a cheap OS or computer that they will look at ads all day.

  5. Make good examples and demos on Which IT Certifications for Specific IT Jobs? · · Score: 1

Its strange that certifications never took off here. The ONLY benefit i see from certifications is from companies that can join partner programs from software companies. Joining Microsoft partner program is a great way to save on licensing costs, they give you a ton for free for signing up. I say its strange here because in India, where we have an office, everyone and their Mom has certifications. We will not even interview people over there without certifications. The problem... some of the people know nothing. And by nothing i mean absolutely nothing. We had 1 guy with a ton of ASP certications that could not do anything... The only certification i have ever heard is possibly worth it is the project management certification. Other than that if i see a MCSE certification i wonder if something is wrong with the guy for wasting so much time and money. Forget the certifications. Create some nice webpages and applicatoin demos. Network a ton. Then network more and you will be all set.

  7. We are working on one ! on The State of Remote Desktops? · · Score: 1

We are working not only on a way for you to access files and applications remotely, but on a whole operating system around the concept. Whats even cooler is that you do not NEED to be running a windows machine to use our remote apps, a linux box, mac, PS2, or even a set-top device could connect and they all get the exact same interface and functionality. I would lOVE to hear comments. Check out our pre-release website. Mostly you just get a screen shot: http://66.24.102.29
