    2) According to the press release on the RIAA site, it sounds like I would be infringing copyrights if I rented/bought a movie and thn invited all my friends over to watch it, or worse yet, loaned it out to them, or geve them the movie after I watched it

Well, I do on a DVD that has a disclaimer saying that it is intended for home viewing and that watching it out of my family circle is an infringement of some sort. What the fuck they ever gonna do about it I don't know, though...

Ah, yes, but then what about new words? The current filter assigns, what, .2 to a new word? Wouldn't just adding random ascii strings greatly reduce the chance of being marked off as spam? Just put a few hundred meta words that are just randomly assigned and you've pretty much fucked the system. The solution obviously is to assign a higher spam probability to unknown words, but then people who don't speak english exclusively may get a lot of false positive.

Just take into consideration abortion: there are many people who are against it, and in some places they are certainly the majority. However, I'm pretty sure not everyone who is anti-abortion is a numbnut who goes around killing people who perform abortions. An extremst isn't someone who has a point of view most people don't have; it's someone who is willing to use means than most people would consider insane.

That's a ludicrous thing to say.

Extremism is the inability to compromise, or recognize that other people may not want the same thing as you

Instead of convincing you that you should change, an extremist will try to coerce you into following his ideas; it's the antithesis to freedom of choice, and I have no idea what sort of person would utter such as thing during a Presidential Election campaign. I damn sure hope he wasn't elected.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but here switching ISP for DSL is totally useless since the other ISPs just buy the lines from Bell. So you always get the same service with the same dl/ul caps no matter who you're with. The problem is that both cable and telephone are pretty much monopolies around here, so there's no way to get a good priced high speed connection.

Hell, last month the DSL started limiting upload and download quantities AND went 5$ up at the same time. That's when I decided I didn't need high speed enough to keep supporting the fuckers.
