For years, the US has been getting Cuban cigars downstream via Canada and now Cuba will be getting American Internet upstream via Venezuela.
Would have been easier to directly get some European Internet or Asian Internet into Cuba... I heard the Chinese make them very cheap (but with the most useful things left out, was always). On the other hand, the Cuban presidency won't probably mind the Chinese "left-outs".
As long as the stay away from Quebec, this might work out nicely. If they do, they risk being stalled in the middle of nowhere due to the lack of sun or simply wreck their fragile cars on our beautiful roads.
In June, we had 23 days of rain here. I could hardly power my LED garden lamps more than 15 minutes after sun set.
Environment Canada has forecast a dry and warm summer. Considering that for the month of June, and I quote the EC experts, "we've never seen that much rain recorded history", and that the dry and warm summer trend should continue on, I think it safe to assume we'll have a quite a (boat) ride with the weather this summer.
Unless they build little dams on the car roofs and install water turbines, these will have a hard time here. (understand, a slow - or stopped - time).
Well, now I, without a doubt, believe anything is possible. Perhaps even the most pessimistic being/thing in the universe would believe anything is possible after reading this line.
Wait. No. I don't think "I" could prove to be useful at all in Very High Earth Orbit. I like the comfort of air and gravity a little too much. Sorry for the bad proof reading.
I wonder if a very high earth post geosynchronous orbit wouldn't be an even better "second life" for the ISS. First it would be less complexe than getting it into a moon orbit. Second, I could prove to be more useful there. As well as being a relay for lunar (or where ever) missions, it could be used as a platform to service (or remove) satellites in geosynchronous orbit.
In the list of systems affected by the processor upgrade, I read FMS, radar, comm, sensors (most likely electronic warfare/countermeasures), weapon system integration, etc.
I remember reading that the on-board computers are absolutely essential to fly the B-2 and to handle the control surfaces. All control surfaces are computer controlled to keep the plane stable (and able to fly).
It is still unclear to me whether the upgrade affects or not flight dynamic systems. Furthermore I'm not sure upgrading the flight dynamic software and hardware would be pertinent, unless stability issues have been observed(plane stability or software stability...or both).
The crash some other slashdoters have pointed out might be a trigger to a major flight dynamic software and hardware update, but if that's the case, TFA is unclear on the extent of that upgrade in this upgrade program.
One feature I'd love to see is a desktop pop-up that comes up randomly telling me "There are unused services on your computer".
That combined with a nice wizard that turns off all the services you never used, making your computer useless in the same process, would be wonderful.
How about simply using a free web apps to send SMS instead of sending the SMS with the phone directly. With web browsers like the ones you have in recent data phones / pda, it should be fairly straight forward.
You can even use an email to SMS gateway if you are that anxious to safe a few cents. most (if not all) providers use email to SMS gateways.
But using SMS to push a conversation towards IM (or voice), that's really not the news of the century.
If you are serious about doing macro photography but don't have to budget to buy a macro lens for your SLR, best would be to use a lesn reversing ring to put the lens backwards on the camera. That way you can use your regular lens as a very good macro lens. Focusable, zoomable, what ever... won't even cost you much more then a box of pringles and no risk of geasing up your SLR.
Speaking of which, if you fail at getting it and wish to install XP yourself, you'll probably have to change your weekend plans anyway.
Which wouldn't help much if you are buying your first computer. Most likely not a frequent problem, but still could be a turn off.
All it takes is (a copy of) your favorite XP Pro SP2 install disc and your favorite XP serial number.
Even better, chances are that if it's your favorite install disc, it won't even require activation.

Considering my current coffee consumption, I'd be pissed at any other policy.

The system probably runs on Intel CPUs.
why on Earth would you even give Microsoft the benefit of the doubt that they'd be able to implement an unused services dialogue with any elegance?
I wouldn't. Unless I don't mind it rending my computer useless. Which I do in fact mind. So, no, I wouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt.

And what if the custom agent or investigator uses Linux? You'll probably have a nice surprise waiting for you.
