Actually, I am an American student that just finished a Masters Degree here in Australia, and am able to stay in the country while applying for a Perminant Residency. All while working full time without violating my visa. (and I don't have to leave the country)
So it's not that bloody hard, but you do have to get a graduate degree, not just an undergrad.
Do you have any references for this comment?
I would like to read the articles about fMRI, frontal lobe epilepsy, and how LSD effects can be linked to religious feelings.
Cheers
It's high time DSL prices fell so that I can get my $15/month - unlimited download - dedicated IP - T1!!! (then hook an 801 router and be peddling th e bandwidth to the neighbors... )
1. there is no click path from the site to the home, thus you would have to click the back button X times (and that is if you remembered seeing the link there in the first place...)
2. The contact page really should have some type of contact information - yes? Would most folks go searching through the site more than 3 seconds (or 2 clicks) looking for a way to contact them? probally not.
This is a good idea - and reading it over it seems to be aimed at the non-savvy user. That being said, do you think they will get confused when they click on contact us and there is no actual contact information?
none, zip, nada. Not even an email address or a mailto: link...
Anyway - good idea, just don't be surprised when the requests *don't* flow in...
Ah, but in America, we must actually put in writing (amend) that the previous law (eating cheese = crime) is no longer in effect.
We have this great system in which laws are never taken off, but rather amended as to create a continuous stream of legal precedent and loop-holes.
Should the idea ever come into play that some laws could be Deleted (as some should), the would as our lawyers know it would stop, and peace (common sense) would reign down like snow.
What type of backend is running most of the news sites? Are some of them distrubuted? (I know some are, but to what extent and how? )
If you mean a major bandwith spike, then where is the weakest link? Will the pipe fill up before the processing power is toped out?
I know that some ISP's had their bandwidth bursting at the seams during 911, so even if there was nothing wrong with the news/internet/network - the ISP was fragile.
Not really a post - in that I am not giving much in the way of answers, but just trying to ask the right questions. There is so much to consider in such a situation, rather than looking (drooling?) at their massive server farm(s), don't forget about the pipe that feeds it(them).
I would love to attend but seeing as air fare from Australia is a little costly...
If someone knows wether an official transcript will be made, please post it up.
Either that, or record (audio) the thing and put it in your Kazaa folder. Ironic - yes. Effective - you bet. Would I want a copy - hell, I'd pay for one. (but not much - see airfare above)
When talking about the 'speed' of AMD vs. Intel I make the following analogy (it works every time)
Note: I tell this to non-math non-technical people. The don't want to hear about the details. So *don't* do the math, just imagine it...
"Think of a freeway. If you are standing next to a freeway, the number of cars going past is the amount of work being done. Obviously the more cars going past, the better. Intel builds a two lane freeway, with cars going 200 miles per hour. AMD builds a 5 lane freeway with cars going 100 miles per hour.
Either way, you have about the same number of cars going past. "
Them "Ahhh... so where is the Mega-Hertz thing?"
Answer: "That's the speed of the cars."
Them: "So the Mega-Hertz isn't really how fast the computer goes? "
Answer: "It's just one aspect."
If this conversation went further - I would throw something in like : comparing AMD vs Intel clock speeds is not accurate, because your dealing with different designs (number of lanes, speed of the cars.... )

Examples:

oifn348nfs.net
t98mklskqpz.com
oifn348nfs.net
Could be that the DNS servers are taking their time to refresh...
The worst thing about this is how one company that is sanctioned by the government that is charged with the duty to be fair - isn't.
Oh wait - was I supposed to be surprised...

From which quotes: "... SBC's monthly wholesale fees were between $32.50 and $39 per subscriber. At that price, he said, his clients were unable to compete against SBC when the additional cost of Internet service and modems is factored in."

Yea, fair enough. But two things:
1. there is no click path from the site to the home, thus you would have to click the back button X times (and that is if you remembered seeing the link there in the first place...)
2. The contact page really should have some type of contact information - yes? Would most folks go searching through the site more than 3 seconds (or 2 clicks) looking for a way to contact them? probally not.
