Then whenever the US Gov decides to print money, they get to instantly tax all those entities around the world who are holding those US dollars that just got cheaper. By my understanding the amount of money in the US is decided by the US federal reserve, which is not quite a government run organization. But rather a "quasi-governmental/quasi-private bank" organization. That in practice seems to be largely controlled by the private banks.
you are mixing up Coal reserves, conventional Oil reserves, and alternative Oil reserves....
There is tons of coal left. We are probably nearing or at the point of peak production for conventional Oil There is also lots of alternative Oil reserves (depending on how you count).
They are 3 very different things, try not to paint them all with the same brush.
its strange, I never thought modern cities were designed. The just sort of came in to being... After all there is always Federal Provincial and municipal people fighting each other. And many bigger cities have multiple municipalities Ottawa/Hull Toronto/Brampton/Sauga and the politician are only there for 4 years, not nearly long enough to do anything but try and angle the growth one way or another... There is no design
Its an interesting project, its not for the mass market yet but if they got some time and money they might be able to make it ready for the mass market.
I'll throw another questionable one out there from GP.
"Divorce hurts kids." Perhaps what actually hurts kids in this case is having parents that don't love each other. I might assume that if one parent is stable, loving and kind yet divorced. This is better then having 2 parents who yell at and hate each other. it is probably not as good having 2 loving parents. but if you only have a choice between the first two options.... What would you choose?
there are several ways out of your 2 party monopoly on power, the most obvious of which is to eliminate your plurality voting system, and institute some form of proportional representation for the house and senate. As for the President I would recommend changing the voting system to something other that FPTP that you have now. Aproval, Range, Condorcet or even IRV voting would do.
Until that it done American's fake democracy will continue to be dominated by the 2 headed snake.
I've been on 7.04 for a while now. and there were a few things about it that I just love... The one I like the best is when I went to the command line and typed 'sux' for the first time. it told me sux was not installed but that I could install it by installing some package or another. That was Nirvana for me with 7.04. Other then that the sound continues to work when I switch users, the WiFi is now 100% instead of 75% and the new intel video drivers mean the OpenGL stuff actually works.
I hope 7.10 has some equally cool things hidden in it. p.s. anybody know if 'ionice' is installed by default yet? It would be a good idea cause Beagle indexes on startup and can really slow down DVD performance.
How is that for democracy. 50.5% ha, it could have easily gone the other way.
p.s. A large portion of Quebec economy is generated with North-South Trade with the USA. Quebec would do alright if separated. it would take quite a financial hit but it would bounce back. It has the resources and positioning to do so.
find a text editor that can color you xml, I use Programmers Notepad but there are many that will do the job. Export the xml file to html and then copy/paste from ie to word. "xml now in real color!" but you just do that in the overview documents, you also need to provide a real reference and not just a DTD you need to provide detailed appendix style document in human readable form.
my own experience with succession (Quebec) indicates that there is not nearly enough dissatisfaction in ANY of the states, to cause it to separate. there needs to be a massive demographic change sustained for at least a full generation before any state would even attempt to remove it self.
The last Canadian political party to suggest union with the US died a while back... it ain't gonna happen. More likely is that one or more US States will secede from the union and either petition to join Canada or be independent rather than stay in JebusLand.
Sure, it might be illegal under the US constitution, The actual US constitution is actually silent on the subject of succession, However there was a big bloody war fought over it and since then it has been de-facto illegal. Kinda like Our unwritten constitution which is established from British historical precedence.
agreed the US government gets money by making dollar bonds worth $1+interest, to the purchaser. It is however possible (if congress has the will) to allow the government to simply spend money into existence. Lincoln did this to finance the war, and it is one of the easiest ways in existence to massively transfer wealth from the rich to the poor, and to value work above capital wealth.
But as long as uncivilized people are going to resist arrest, or disobey legitimate police commands, then we're going to need to electrocute them. It's better than shooting them when they refuse to put down the knife. This is not in the same category. put down the mic and stop asking questions.
1. He wasn't asking questions. He was making rhetorical statements I am not going to argue about the rest of your post but. This is what actually happens at political debates, QA sessions, etc...
When the opportunity comes for the public to ask questions, the moderator usually has to assign a time limit before hand.
The "Questions" from the public often take up 99% of there 2min time limit with a rant about something, in an effort to "Frame" the question, followed by the mic being cut off, or a hurried question at the end.
in reality real news journalist do this also, its just they usually don't have a hard 2minute barrier to deal with.
This is done (in part) because politicians don't answer the question being asked. They answer the question they wish was asked on a related topic. The ability to "Frame" the question properly makes it harder for them to avoid or duck the question.
Disruptive style behavior indicative of mental instability / hostility. obviously :
1. your qualified to make that diagnosis
2. have enough information to make it
any way you sound like you have never been to a real QA or debate or all candidates meeting, etc... The format of about half of the "Questions" from the public is :
Long hurried rant about subject X and why Candidate A and B suck at this issue, terminating in the moderator repeatedly yelling "TIME", or a hurried question in the last 5 seconds.
I Really Miss being able to directly edit the tags with Word perfect I can't remember the version, maybe 6...ish
Most of my Text Processing is now done in XHTML, my girlfriend tells me of the wonders of Latex all the time, but I know HTML, and can't be bothered to learn a new markup, Plus I can render it well anywhere.
if I need a pdf KDE and Konq provide "Print to PDF" for word documents I usually cut and past from a browser directly into word.
I think your analogy is backwards... better analogy Your TIVOFridge will turn off because you put apple juice in the orange juice container.
RMS, is saying if the Fridge manufacturer includes an Orange juice container (RMS built) with the fridge purchase. The manufacturer is not allowed to turn off the fridge, just because the consumer decided to put Apple juice in the container clearly marked orange juice.
In theory an abstract concept, say like the money supply can technically increase forever. I do agree with you about debt based money being bad, and basically your whole post, except that small point. Because in theory our money supply is slowly losing its connection with the real world. IE the connection to work done and actual physical objects made or removed from the ground.
And why in God's name should your teacher give you any respect? Because, he is a human. I do try to show respect for all members of my species. Indeed I try to show respect for all living creatures, it is a great accomplishment after all, just to be alive.
wasn't 300 hundred an dramatization of an actual battle?
Oh Man I loved that show...And the Car was amazing! ...:-)

At a microphone, provided for people to ask questions.
