If we consider the shabby level of education received by Joe-6-pack in the American school system, it's doubtful that the poor bastard is familiar with the most basic methods of research. If it ain't on television, he probably hasn't got a clue about it. If he hasn't got a clue about it, then he should not be using it. He can pay with a credit card like most everyone else. I agree that we shouldn't have to protect people from their own stupidity, but perhaps we should, in the form of a test. Present the potential PayPal (l)user with several emails, one of which is a fake. If the applicant can not identify the scam email, Denied!
I thought they already had a service launch scheduled for sometime soon...
From http://hubble.nasa.gov/index.php:
"Hubble to be Serviced Again Administrator Michael Griffin's decision on October 31, 2006 to fly servicing mission SM4 in mid- to late-2008 will bring unique capabilities to Hubble in the form of two new science instruments, Cosmic Origins Spectrograph and Wide Field Camera 3. In addition, new gyros and batteries will extend Hubble's life through 2013."
Glad to hear that nothing has changed. The job I just left involved using Siebel. Slow is an understatement, not to mention all the things that they said it would do prior to the department plunking down 7 figures to implement it, then discovering that if we actually wanted it to do that, as opposed to wanting to know if it would do it, that would cost extra, or worse yet, would not do it...
I've got a Scientific Atlanta model 8000 from my cable company and it isn't bad at all. I use it all the time -- never need to worry about missing an episode of the Sopranos again...:)
I made it a policy a long time ago to not vote for anyone who is currently holding the office they are running for... if more people did the same, maybe it would make a difference, or maybe we'd just end up with a new idiot to replace the old idiot we voted out...
and now there are only a couple of Macs left (basically to impress stupid clients who think that Macs are "better")
As for which is better, I cannot count how many times in the past month I've had to reboot my Windows 2000 machine. I also cannot count how many months its been since I had to reboot my Mac. My Mac is somewhat slower, but is also vastly more dependable.
I am a card carrying MS whore, but I won't list my actual certifications, because MS can revoke them if I use them in a statement critical of MS or their products.
That is absolutely the most absurd concept that I have ever heard (right up there with the FrontPage EULA that does not allow one to use FrontPage to create pages that disparage Microsoft). The idea that they can revoke a certification based simply on the grounds that I said something they didn't like? That's just a bit Orwellian if you ask me... (watch out for the Thought Police)
I wish there was a way to open the mails in text form, forward them without opening them, or prevent them from fetching outside images when you open them
Opera has a button on the toolbar that lets you temporarily disable images on the fly. I hit that, then I can open any message I want without worrying about the kids seeing something they shouldn't...

Of course by then it may be too late...

A camera on a R/C chopper? Now that would be cool!
Ever heard of billiards??? You actually do keep score...
