Maybe its a British thing, but over here people really don't take that much notice of commercials. And yes the IBM basketball adverts have been shown here.

What I'm saying is that the checkout girl is unlikely ot have remembered the name from the ad. Its more likely that this dirty GNU idiot made up a story about him talking to a girl to make his article look better.

This spring I was in the checkout line of my local grocery store, and I was wearing a Tux polo shirt. The cashier looked at Tux and said to me, "Do you like penguins?" I took the opportunity to explain that this penguin was Tux, the mascot of the Linux computer operating system. She seemed puzzled. "Linux? Isn't he a basketball player?"

The author clearly made up that story. Nobody thinks that Linux is a basketball player. What an idiot.

Maybe you would prefer a job where you write software that no-one else wants.

The whole idea of a job is that you spend some of your time and someone else pays you for that time. Even if you have your own business then you will still have clients that you have to work for.

Companies who write shrinkwrapped software without having any clients to sell it to will in most cases fail.

I'm guessing that you haven't left high school yet and you don't yet understand how the real world works.

    But I'll bite anyway.

SuSe is a huge player in the European Linux market. For those of you who live in the USA, and are therefore geographically retarded, Europe is a very very big place across the pond from US.

SuSe is an excellent Linux distro for all areas of use, but the one thing that lets it down is that a lot of the files (particularly config files) are in a different place to where you would expect to find them on a redhat based system.
