The story of Snow White and just about every other fairytale that Disney built the mousetrap out of are public domain. Their flavor is what is protected.

  3. Actually, this might be a cool feature on Tivo To Also Offer Ads Your Way · · Score: 1

It will largely depend on how TiVo rolls this out. There are some commercials that I would love to repeat, look up, and play on demand. They can be creative, funny, entertaining, informative, witty... you get the picture. When someone asks me, "hey did you catch the cat hearding commercial?!" If I can look it up on my TiVo as easily as on the internet, I would more likely use it on my TiVo.

I did that and ended up after a little bit o' clickin' with a pop-up contest. Cute contest, but not eligible since it is only for residents of the countries identified with the flags on the tree.

Latency, Echo, Security, Oh My! -Sounds like an atocious installation. Not knowing enough about the equipment nor installation specification, this is pure convecture, but it sounds like the project team did not do a very good job. While even the best installations are not perfect, your sounds shoddy... that speaks more to how it was implemented than to the technology.

  8. What's wrong with... on Effects of China's Software Policy on World Economy? · · Score: 2, Insightful

a Government wanting to limit the software it depends on to the companies it has the most control over and best access to? If a country relies on a foreign written and supported software, who knows what problems arise. Unless you are in the business of making software, you better be able to trust who you're in bed with to provide it, because you are less likely to know what coded inside.

Since most phones are made for specific bands, full portibility would require multi-multi-band phones or one band worldwide. The world had it right from almost the beginning, the US belives in competition, hence CDMA, TDMA, GSM, AMPS,....blah. Maybe someday, but that doesn't sound like the reason for this forum. K

Well, given that Starbucks is in a partnership with the actual provider T1 (Deutch Telecom), this is a mis placed letter. Certainly a letter to Starbucks encouraging them to pressure T1 to work with the local communities that Starbucks locates itself in. Starbucks has a lot of muscle, if they were on the side of the little guy they might be successful in getting T1 to choose alternate channels where an existing presense is on band already. Ultimately, its T1 whose provisioning their network and its in T1's interest to make their network usable...crowding a single channel is not the way to make a product usable.

I too thought this movie kicked ass. As for R2, he starts out at the beginning. Only C3PO was on the moisture farm and we can only assume that Shmi brought him with her when she was sold to the Lars family. 3PO was left behind when Anie left Tatooine in search of Jedi-dom... but why were they left in the arena?
