Windows XP Pro default install uses 1700 MB of hard drive space, 1100 MB of that in the Windows folder. Control Panel allows removal of no more than about 50 MB. I feel ill.
That is already the case. Like "Requires Windows 98 or better + DirectX 8.0 or better + Internet Explorer 5.5 or better + Media Player 7.0 or better + MDAC 2.5 or better" etc. Windows is already modular to an extent. Microsoft simply ties much software artificially to the OS to "encourage" adoption, which is the whole problem to begin with.
Yes, developers love Microsoft's behavior - it's easier to program for one environment.
I have yet to figure out why MSN Explorer and MSN Messenger are required for Windows to work.
"the city's traffic-engineering department decided a three-second yellow was too brief for the lefts and increased the time to four seconds. Bam! Violations dropped 73 percent at left-turn intersections."
"Mesa and Lockheed have rigged the cameras to favor themselves."
I am convinced that when a for-profit business is in charge of law enforcement, the results are inevitably anti-citizen.
Blame the users all you want, but education is fleeting and limited. Blame virus writers if you like, but they're never going to disappear.
Blame Microsoft, because they are the ones with the ultimate capacity to solve the problem, and they don't. Too busy counting money, I suppose.
The IR control is dreadfully slow though -- combine that with the delay for video decompression, and you can forget about channel surfing with a TiVo. 3-5 seconds to go to the next channel.
I believe this was the sole basis for AOL's claim that AOL loads web pages faster. Too bad it also makes web pages look crappier. AOL never explains this; you have to figure it out. I don't know if they still make this claim.
Discs are fragile. CF is sturdy.
I can safely slip a CF card into my pocket without using a protective case. This is important with digital cameras. (Also, SmartMedia is fragile. MemoryStick is proprietary. CF rules.)
Breathe Microsoft Air, drink Microsoft Water, eat Microsoft Shit.
And don't worry, Microsoft is much too important (in their own minds) to ever go out of business, leaving you to die a stale air-water death lest you not soon find an alternative "ecosystem".
Deleting your account doesn't work unless you know your password. I don't know my password. I don't even know my account name. I know I have an account there though because Yahoo tells me I have to log in to my Yahoo account to unsubscribe from their Yahoo Points spam. Does anyone know my username and password?

It's not just Internet bandwidth it's using without your knowledge or consent, it's LAN bandwidth too. PCs on your LAN, each using up an uncontrollable percentage of your or your company's personal bandwidth.
It's not just this file search net connection. Automatic Windows Update in XP does auto-downloading in the background by default if you follow the wizard.
If MS built air conditioners, they'd design them to run full-time. They have zero consideration regarding automatic resource consumption.
I want to go attend those hotel pep-talks with some friends, so we can practice making rude noises. There was an ad on the radio just last week for a seminar on the "learn how to process medical claims in your own home" scam. Now all I need are some friends.
I wondered why the Herba-dieters all claim their "energy went through the roof."
I guess they can do anything they want to you, cause the FDA won't go near anything with "herb" on the label.
Election signs in the right-of-way are illegal, but somehow the law looks the other way when politicians are involved and the signs end up everywhere. I've had to get out and flatten some which block my view off an exit ramp. Legally, they're only supposed to go up in supporters' front yards, with permission.
Every 6 freakin months. Then somebody gets to go around after the vote and clean up the leftovers. There's just too many to deal with before then, and they get replaced if you try.

The TrustE logo is purchased, not earned. If a corporation purchases a third-party logo for $5000, how much is it worth to YOU?

Has TRUSTe ever punished any company? have they ever taken away their logo?

The money doesn't really count when you're buying your own products.
