Who the hell thought this private had a "need to know" all of these hundreds of thousands of documents?
As has been pointed out elsewhere, if some low-level guy like this could access all of that material, then the real spies (of practically every country on the planet) already had it all, and more.
Isn't the real scandal the extraodinary lack of security that allowed this in the first place (assuming it ever really happened anything nearly like the way they say it did, and that Manning was actually involved)?
Somebody please tell me that stuff like this is protected better than "Hey, we made sure he signed something, no one could possibly have foreseen that anyone who had done so would break their word".
Increased use of natural gas was a big part of his plan. He wanted to see truck fleets (like Overnite, Old Dominion, your various chain grocery stores, etc.) converted through retrofit and/or attrition.
Seems awfully broad. Are you telling me I can't sell my bands CD's at a gig or post our music to our website?
Consider the (admittedly hypothetical) situation where your gigs and website are the only places anyone could buy *any* band's CD, and by the most amazing coincidence, it's much more difficult and time-consuming to buy any other band's CD than to buy yours.
It is that sort of thing in which we are in danger if content and distribution are controlled by the same entity, or the same few entities.
Having worked as a cashier I can tell you that with 5 open lanes, more than 70% will load up in the same lane.
Perhaps they've noticed that whenever they move to a register with a shorter line it inevitably causes someone in front of them in that line to be trying to cash a check from inner Mongolia or some other such time-consuming maneuver. Moving from a long line to a short one almost invariably causes the short one to slow to a crawl and the long one to speed up considerably.
Which is why I suspect that she wants to keep governments' hands off of the internet so that big businesses will be free to do with it as *they* wish.
Cerf is probably looking out for the consumer/user, but I suspect she's only in it to protect the "free market", you know, the one where you're free to pay the only cable company in town and settle for whatever they offer at the price they ask or do without, and/or to pay the only "landline" telephone company in town and settle for whatever they offer at the price they ask or do without.
They do the same thing to me. Somehow they know how to time it so that I get them in inverse proportion to my having the time or the desire to use them.
But that's stuff that goes over the airwaves, which belong to the people as a whole, and the chance exists that a person who would be offended by that stuff, or a child, might very well come across it without warning on an ordinary over-the-air receiver.
FCC regulates telephones, but another consenting adult and myself can get on the phone and talk dirty to each other all we want to, or make the most outlandish political statements, and they have no authority to stop us, so there are a few holes in your blanket statement.
It's tired and I'm getting late.
I swear I first saw that as Epileptic Labs, which made the mention of touchless gestures particularly dark comedy.
At which point you will be in violation of The Constitution of The United States of America, which does have legal standing.
The Constitution of The United States of America is the spirit of The Constitution of The United States of America.
The Declaration of Independence and the success of the ensuing revolution got us the unworkable Articles of Confederation.

...They're watching you right now! Pull the drapes!...
I don't have any drapes at the moment.*
Is there any hope for me that doesn't involve Reynolds Wrap?
*(poster board thumbtacked to the window frame, so, no, no free show for the neighbors)
I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't all just Lamo, Manning, and Assange having a crazy-off.
What community in the United States has undrinkable tap water?
Read up on Camp Lejuene.
...when it comes to soda there is little difference between HFCS and sucrose...
There's a world of difference in the taste.
Actually, it has ridiculous corn syrup content.
Which is why it's nowhere nearly as good as it was 40 or 50 years ago.
Things which used to be made with sugar and are now made with HFCS taste worse and are less satisfying (which leads to greater consumption).
Corn, and all the subsidies, and all the ADM and Cargill politician buying, are not responsible for sugar prices.
For that, you can blame the domestic sugar industry and the politicians that they buy.
Of course the high cost of sugar is a big part of why HFCS is used instead in so many products.
Increased use of natural gas was a big part of his plan. He wanted to see truck fleets (like Overnite, Old Dominion, your various chain grocery stores, etc.) converted through retrofit and/or attrition.
Okay, so besides Archer-Daniels-Midland and Cargill, who are the other two?
Seems awfully broad. Are you telling me I can't sell my bands CD's at a gig or post our music to our website?

By not understanding the world in which they live, they are able to maintain that self-delusion of joining them some day.

I saw the "word" cablegate and was hoping it was some big scandal that would make life very uncomfortable for the cable television industry.
They do the same thing to me. Somehow they know how to time it so that I get them in inverse proportion to my having the time or the desire to use them.
And rapidly becoming a banana republic.
and I don't mean the clothing outfit.
They don't have a right to make money, just to try.

The internet isn't really the same.
Actually I think it's just because they enjoy being able to trickle down on us and get away with it.

I grew up in Flint. I assure you we will go to violence before we turn to education.
Michael Moore? Is that you?
