    In reality, that isn't true, and it shouldn't be true. On many points of law it is true but not for all of them. Corporations are not human beings, and should not have the same protections. Taking something to court is not the only legal operation, you know.

    There is a transaction taking place, and if you let sellers burn buyers by making misleading inaccurate, or unsubstantiated statements it is a very quick way to destabilize a country.

    hypothetical You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. From my understanding of hypothetical, those examples are real, not hypothetical, because he said his parents did watch 'The Shield' and he did watch 'Buffy the Vampire'. Now he is using these examples to support the hypothesis over the Tivo would be usefulness, but that is not what is usually meant when hypothetical is used in front of scenarios, or examples, and that does not appear to be the way that you are using it. The scenario where there was no shield marathon and no Buffy reruns is the hypothetical one.

    I'm afraid I fail to see how being a professional programmer brings you to the conclusion to refuse to let someone else's politics dictate how you feed your family.
    Perhaps it is some other part of your being that brings you to that conclusion.
    I am also curious about the question of whether or not you actually do let someone else's politics dictate how you feed your family. After all, other people's politics contribute to the desirability of programming as a means to feed your family, as opposed to say, hard science.

    If that description was correct then the amount passed should remain constant, but take two polarized filters and rotate them, you get a gradual change from dark to light. My guess, neither is correct, however, polar-solar may be describing a different phenomenon than polarization.

    If you can be certain that you won't ruin the garage or the SUV it sounds like a decent way of figuring out if the SUV will fit in the garage. I don't see how programming that way will ruin anything.

    if you don't know that a particular piece of code will run or not maybe you've chosen the wrong career path

    It seems then that a lot of programmers have chosen the wrong career path, because as soon as I change my colors to white text on black, a lot of programs become unusable or close...then there are a ton of bugs in Microsofts and others programs that appears might have been corrected hat they used this methos to make sure that their program works. Now seems like not to bad a time to mention one really annoying bug: When a website fails and I hit refresh and the website finally loads, the titlebar still display "Site not found".

    Whoever modded the previous post off-topic doesn't understand the issue involved and probably didn't read down, although the previous post could have done a better job of explaining to make the relevancy clear.
    Anybody have any comments to make this clearer? I'm having trouble making a go at it.

    They don't need mind control devices. Anybody watch "Crest of the Stars" and see how well the Baron controlled the minds of his vassals. (They should be showing that episode sometime this week again and again one last time on Friday on TechTV). That's how it's done, not with devices, but with social engineering. (Is that the right category- not absolutely sure.) Promoting those lower than you in the social structure into menial jobs.
