Without the ability to produce more, they are going to die a swift death and everyone's lives will be meaningless and insignificant. Are you sure you failed because it wasn't nice, or just because it had no basis in any means of survival?
There is still a sun in the sky, right? And last I checked the law that energy can not be destroyed still held true (entropy aside) so what's the big deal?

You are mistaken that God responds to faith. Faith is a service God provides. It is human beings that respond to faith.
