    OS, browser, scripting language for browser, IDE, mobile browser, ect

    I see this as the 'browser wars' by different means...

    everything should be as interoperable as possible...which would be fewer programming languages b/c there would be less need to translate between abstractions created to lock-in users to one system or track/steal their data

    Um, I live in downtown Portland, 14 blocks from the river on a main street

    Portland is such a perfect test market, the city should charge Google just for the privalidge of using our fair city

    that's just IMHO...

    the idea that "fiber" is readily and cheaply available in Portland is incorrect...it's is *possible* but almost all residential users have ADSL through the phone line

    none of us know how much fiber Google will lay and where...how much they will charge, how much data they will scrape...

    overall, it's very good that Google is adding this infrastructure

    what Uber *does* is the *same* as a Taxi company *in practice*

    I think oligarchs will move away from the US to maintain their revenue streams...the US is full of money but there are much easier populations to manipulate at macro-levels

    I believe the Democrats and Republicans will re-polarize around economic issues re-framed to cut out all the GOP's bullshit since post-WWII

    Things in the USA will get better, but we'll see ***whole countries*** being "gentrified" like neighborhoods in SF

    Its like taxi cabs are restaurants selling burgers, and Uber is an *unlicenced* food cart that sells burgers, and they set up right outside the legal restaurant, ****SELLING THE SAME PRODUCT****

    and the law allows it anyway b/c of language and you have to buy the burger with an app from the food cart

    its cheating, a scam, unfair competition, illegal....choose your language however, the reality is the same

    Uber is scamming ****OTHER TAXI COMPANIES**** and calling it "disruption"

    They are taking advantage of bribable or dumb localities that will *let Uber run unregulated Taxi service*

    Uber is a taxi service....they are scamming other taxi companies **and taxpayers who pay to regulate them**
