I got to agree with you. As a parent, my child is my responsibility. I filter what she sees and I will continue to do so.
Once she becomes an adult, she will be free to decide herself what she looks at. Where do you stop when you begin to censor things.
I also find it amusing that those shouting that Christians are bigoted and trying to censor what they can see, are trying to censor the Christians (IANAC).
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you want to look at porn, you can. If you want to bitch at people because they are looking at porn, you can. If you want to be part of a political party that tries to impose a tax to prevent minors from being exposed to porn, you can. It's your right as a human being to do those things, even if someone else finds them morally objectionable.
Live with it....
If you are in the UK, you may be able to get the Orange datacard on 1 months free trial. Sorry can't be arsed to find the link...;-)
On the subject of 802.11, I was at an orange bash the other day and I am sure they mentioned one being released by the end of the year.....
It may go up in price but so will the bandwidth. If you've got fibre to door you'll get more bandwidth. I think in Korea where they have fibre the connection speed is 10mbps.
A GUI does need to be at least some part configuarable. I remember a few years ago I was working for a large client, the desktop used to be locked down for all users. When someone pointed out that not everyone found the standard windows desktop comfortable on the eyes Health & Safety got involved and ruled that users should have the access to configure the desktop as they liked.
You will never see 'full conversion' to linux. There will always be people who prefer windows to linux and vice versa.
It's what makes the world interesting.
Which is basically what I said in the paragraph that followed the one that you quoted!

IMO Ellison would disagree will whatever BillG says. He'd probably disagree if bill said that Oracle was the greatest piece of software ever created.
