    see, if I buy origionals I give $30 to a lawyer in the US... these guys can already feed themselves, they don't need another $30 from me as much as...

    if I pirate the move I'm giving 3c to a princo factory worker in the 3rd world... 3c might not sound like much, but it's enough for them to feed themselves for the day.

    And don't give me the 'think of the artists' crap, Tom Cruise is not likely to go broke anytime soon.

    I think that's a natural evolution of the word... I know I always say "That's GAY!" when things are wrong... but it's like a yo mumma joke, I'm not actually thinking about your mother, neither do I think that Microsoft Word has sex with other same-sex programs...

    On a similar note, people commonly use "you're a faggot for having that" which means 'I'm jealous of you for having that' around here. Go figure.

    Well those are really rhetorical questions, but here's an interesting question:

    Do you, your troops, or your government care that half your population and most of the rest of the world hate them? Last I heard the job of your troops was to protect the interests of your government (and in theory, you) ... not win a popularity contest.

    Just coz it's copyrighted doesn't mean it's illegal!

    Since we're in a global community on the internet, shouldn't we be able to choose which nationality we would like to be judged under in the virtual space? Just because I am geographically located in Australia or America, why can't I call my computer a embassy of India?

    See, It's simple, in the physcial world, I obay the rules of my country. BUT, my computer and my virtual presence is treated by me the same way the Indian Embassy is... under there rule.

    Therefore, all these copyrighted files which bittorrent around the place, do so under indian copyright law (ie. there is none -- long live generic medications!)

    Hahaha, and that's unlike a firewall how?

    I would've gone with "A firewall is either a little icon on a network diagram that makes management feel secure, or a box that has 'PIX' or 'Checkpoint' on it that is in global passthrough because it's so annoying to try to configure, or any other device that performs NAT" whereas a corperate network is what (sometimes) connects your ancient desktop to the internet.

    I think America's (strange) anti-monopoly laws would be preventing Microsoft from purchasing redhat.

    Remember the hot water they were in with the DOJ late last decade because they owned too much of the software market and they were dragging out lines like 'apple / linux are a serious threat and have some of the market therefore we are not a monopoly therefore we are not guilty' ... Wouldn't it be a universally stupid move to buy out your only remaining serious competition (except for that apple stuff with arts students seem to love (jk)) just when all the antitrust stuff is behind you?

    No, I think this is probably a FUD campaign to say "Hey, RedHat is just like us, don't move to them because you hate us, because you WILL hate them too".

    EFS is yet another example of IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IT DOES DONT TOUCH IT. If you can't see the danger in encrypting important stuff so nobody else can see it and don't check up to find how it determines you from everybody else... and then don't back up. .. Hey, that's called learning from your own stupidity.

    I guess it's IBM's fault I lost all my files because they left this 'del' key on my stinkpad without documenting what it does?

    For other browsers running on Windows, you'll need to manually configure your proxy settings to 127.0.0.1:9100 for HTTP connections.

    I was trying to indicate that the university has an obligation to it's students, not some government-sponsored rogue company.

    Here's a more interesting idea...

    Authenticate SMTP with public key signing. -- Then use a trust network to only accept email from trusted companies.

    Why it won't work:
    It involves effort and cost.

    Baah, the internet should be unregulated, if they can get rid of SPAM then whats to stop them getting rid of porn, anti-government information etc. There's a road we all want to go down.

    Don't buy it and Get over it(tm).

    Here's a novel idea... before there was millions of dollars in selling virus scanners, the most malicious virus around was JUNKIE.

    I guess it would be unpatriotic to suggest that virus scanning companies are actually paying people to write viruses and keep them in business...

    I know it's offtopic (and offensive to some people), but maybe the answer is simply to take the money out of virus scanning (maybe by people building it into the OS) rather than switch to *nix.
