except that WAS only brought on BECAUSE of Bab5's success.
I'm a big fan of the B5 story-arc... but if the writers of Enterprise haven't worked out an arc by now, it's too late.
The nice thing about B5 was that things mentioned in ep1 didn't pan out until series 7 (for example, in Ep3, Garaboldi is reading in his paper that 'The Psi-Corp doesn't like the newly elected president and his alien ties'... which is then shown when homeguard and psi-corp kill the president in series 7) (sorry if you're half way throught the series:P

someone needs to make an X window manager based on the quake engine giving a true OpenGL 3D desktop environment:)
In theory this law is a great violation of our freedom of speach, and when I heard about it I was totally against it. A law such as this should never have been made.
However. In practice, the law has been made, and if you read it you will find it is totally unenforcable. I don't expect my internet usage to be changed at all by it. In practice it means your ISP has to offer a program like NetNanny to you, and any site that gives kiddie porn without authentication that is found by an ABA member when he's trying to get to his farm animal porn can be forcibly taken down if it is in australia.
I'm thinking we should just let the AU government do what they want in their little pseudo world they make for themselves because as John Howard (our current prime minister who was voted in even though over 50% of the country didn't like him [due to our fucked up method of voting it does matter where you live]) demonstrated the other day when he rushed authorisation for ASIO to look at and alter any information they see fit on my computer so they can forge enough evidance to make me guilty of any crime they like; THERE ISN"T A GOD DAMNED THING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT.
I'm not sure if I'm babbeling sh*t here or not, but I am ABSOLUTLY SURE I have seen that paper before, reported on/. 6 or 12 months ago. It *MAY* have been the origional but I am fairly certain it was an addendum to the origional reporting the effects of the/. effect on the report of the/. effect.
The graphs had lines saying when it was posted on betanews,/. etc... I dunno. Comments included "what next, a report on the/. effect on the report of the report of the report of the/. effect" etc.
Again, I may just be dribbling sh*t (or dajavu or something)
Does anyone know why the two major chip companies picked up the slot design then so quickly dropped it to go back to socket?
Looking at the design of them I would have thought the slot would be a better design because it gets the chip off the board allowing more room for thumping heatsinks.
What has caused them to abandon the design like rats off a sinking ship?

Apple don't claim it will work in Linux, but the do claim it is developed for Windowz. But check out what happens to their wonderful program when you install SP5.
I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for apple to port something to linux if it doesn't even work on Windoze. Nothing personal against quicktime.. just.. THEY SUCK:)
4. IT professionals, tired of stodgy traditional government, unite to form the first nation unbound by geographic or genetic ties. The native language of this new country is not English or Spanish, but Java 6.1.
Yeah, so now all IT professionals can talk to everyone else with no compatability problems. Unfortunatly during the talking process your body will completely lock up while your talk process uses 100% of your brain, talking takes 5 times longer, and large companies have added their own words to the language, so they can understand everything you say, but unless you use the updated Java Virtual Brain, codnamed M$JVM, you can't understand them.
Why can't Cisco et. al. Create a router which finds uneducated users running software they don't completely understand, and immediatly drop their connection to the internet. This would leave only the people who actually know what they are doing, making a much nicer internet for all. It would even solve his problem, he would be kicked off his e-commerce network for his own protection.
That is, until someone passes a law allowing us to ban people like him from using anything more technical than a typewriter.
A word of advice for his kind:
"If you don't know what it does, DON"T FUCKING TOUCH IT"
Its nice to see a civilised disagreement on slashdot...... ESPECIALLY between two well educated people... I mean, where else in the world can you see two neuroligists disagree about the intregration of computers into the mind.
